The Long Now

The Society Of Environmental Journalists is holding their annual conference at Stanford this week. Karla and I went to one of their events the other night which was hosted by Amy Goodman, no less. There's a good synopsis of it here if you're interested in that kind of thing.

I generally cringe when I hear the words "retro" or "progressive", but when you put them together you get a pretty good description of the lifestyle I've been aspiring to for the past few years; one that didn't really have a catchy name until now. I live in a 100 year old house, line-dry my laundry, bike to work, watch George Formby movies and get my food at the farmer's market, yet I couldn't survive without the internet, MP3s, cell phones, Priuses and energy drinks.

Don't forget - The Corner Laughers and The Variable Stars are playing at Barefoot Coffee Roasters TONIGHT.
