I watched an interesting low-budge (it had some wipes I recognized from iMovie) fan-made documentary about the Kinks last night called Two For The Road. It starts out with home videos made in the early '80s of two teenage guys in southern California badly lip syncing and acting out the lyrics of Kinks songs and ends 25 years later with the same two guys standing in front of Ray & Dave Davies childhood home... badly lip syncing and acting out the lyrics of Kinks songs. In between they make dorky obsessive pilgrimages to almost every location ever mentioned in a Kinks song, something I've tried to do myself, but never on such a grand scale. Needless to day, I loved the movie and so will you.

Speaking of things about England that Americans find fascinating for irrational reasons, if you're sick of every kid's book and movie being about "the chosen one" and "the prophecy", Un Lun Dun can help you. It's about an alternate underground London in which "the chosen one" turns out to be an incompetent buffoon and her friend has to do all the work of saving the world without getting any of the credit.
