You my friend are totally awesome.

In case you didn't think I was going to take NaSoAlMo seriously, I sequestered myself away all weekend with the guitar, the Garageband, and some energy drinks and had a surprisingly productive recording session. I'm up to 5 songs, 13:49 total time. (OK, so I added some unnecessary guitar wanking to stretch the songs out a little.) I don't remember anything in the rules about the songs having to be good or make any sense, which works for me. I'll post a new track every day this week.

Song #1: Cedar Waxwings

November is when the persimmons ripen and the Cedar Waxwings return to the Bay Area. I thought this would be a perfect song to start with. For a production model I tried to capture the feel of "St. Dominic's Preview", (Is St. Dominic's feature film ever going to be released?) specifically the unearthly floating in air bass, drums and piano of the chorus. I wanted to do a 3/4 interlude in the middle, which was challenging since Garageband does not allow you to change time signatures. I turned off the click track at that point and played the section, then hoped it would match up with the ending. It almost worked. The guitar solo at the end is particularly incompetent.
