Great Time in Elk

Continuing where we left off last weekend (after several band practices), we had vague plans to meet Chuck and Maria in Point Reyes on Saturday. Upon arriving in Pt. Reyes we discovered that our modern cellular phone technology was useless and we feared that we'd never find them. Our first plan was to go to the main town and sit by the road and wait for them to go by. Obviously that did not work. Eventually we gave up and ate lunch on our own and decided just to hang out for a while and try to catch up with them in San Francisco in the evening, where we hoped our phones would work.

We were about to take the trail to the Miwok village when a horse appeared and commanded Karla's attention. This detained us for about 5 minutes during which time I saw a black convertible drive up to the visitor's center. "Hey, that could be them" I said. Karla said it looked like old people with hats and was probably not the Nivisons. Well lo and behold, we were both right. If not for that horse we would still be looking for them.

Now that we had astonishingly reunited we took them to the Earthquake Trail, the Miwok Village, the Museum of Dead Animals and the lighthouse. It was the equivalent of climbing a 30 story building and it was closing in 15 minutes but it was on the list so we had to do it.

When we did get back to SF in the evening both of the Nivison's cell phones ran out of battery at the same time so we lost them again temporarily. Luckily there are still a few pay phones left in the world. zimbra1006 took us all to dinner at a fine Thai establishment called Neecha. I think it was the best Thai food I've ever had, even including the time I went to Thailand.

miwok, chuck visit, the list, food, marin, pt. reyes
