Can I just sing the praises of the Mac Mini one more time? Not only is it attractive and functional, it's the best piece of home recording equipment I've ever had. For people like myself who aren't great singers it has an array of built in vocal effects including pitch correction and auto tune. Also for people like myself who need a little help with their guitar playing, it has built in amp modeling (kind of like a POD) with control over all of the knobs, distortion, overdrive, phaser, delay, etc. You just plug your guitar into the computer and it does the rest. If you don't like the sound you don't have to re-record it, simply change the setting. It mixes down directly to iTunes. It's almost too easy.
Here's a little demo I did yesterday. All of the instruments are reality based except for the drums, which I assembled out of sampled patterns that came with the program. I didn't use any effects on the bass, my bass playing is the one thing I'll stand by.
