[Detritus is out stomping through the woods, his massive crossbow resting over one shoulder. Something seems to be puzzling him. (Granted, many things puzzle Detritus, particularly when the weather's warm. He's a little slow on the uptake.) He's talking mostly to himself, and hasn't noticed that the crow is recording.]So... you go off in one ( Read more... )

There is no turtle. I therefore surmise that this is a roundworld. However...

It is...strange. I know no worlds like this. And I know all worlds, in time.

[No sarcasm or irony]

A world which is round.

[Even if it was there, the sarcasm would go totally over his head. >_>]

[Well duh, this is Detritus we're talking about.

...I think we may have two of the most clueless people on the Disc right here.]

No. Spherical.

[Yes. Yes, we do. Though in some ways Leonard of Quirm might come close.]

[You've lost him again, Death. >_>] Er. Dey're worlds, right? What're dey afraid of?

[Now I have this immense urge to app Leonard of Quirm]

They are not afraid. They are merely lumps of lifeless rock. Fear requires sentience.

[Perplexed now ><]

Why would they be afraid?

[Gotta love Leonard. XD;]

...Dunno. Aren't dat what you said?

[Oh, right]

I said spherical. It means ball-shaped.

Oh. Dat's a funny shape for a world.

Indeed. Roundworlds do not exist in the same universe as the Disc. They exist in several pocket universes. There are no turtles in these universes.

[Thinks for a moment]

Except regular turtles.

[pause]

...Somebody's carryin' universes in their pockets?

No. Pocket universes can be accessed from our universe. The Roundworld Project, for example, is housed in the Unseen University. I am confidently informed that there are no turtles.

Oh.

...No turtles except der regular kind, or just no turtles?

No turtles except the regular kind. I believe it is due to an absence of narrativum.
