You know how I was telling you that I wanted to travel, when I was a kid? Well, Franz and I eventually did go on that trip. We circled around all the inner planets. It was great. Really... really great. And then we arrived on Luna last of all.

It's fine. You don't need to. Luna is the moon, though it doesn't really matter.

But there we met the Count of Monte Cristo. Who was actually... Edmond Dantes in disguise, escaped from prison, though I didn't know that until a long time afterwards.

I think... I'm pretty sure he engineered my kidnapping, so that when he came to my rescue... I trusted him instantly, instead of trusting Franz, who had been my best friend for years.

He used that to get closer to my family, so then... everything fell apart.

My engagement to Eugenie was broken off. Then her family went bankrupt, and her father tried to marry her off to a psychopath to regain their fortune. The truth about what my father had done on Janina, and his true heritage, all came to light on election day-- there was a huge scandal. One of my close friends was poisoned by her step mother and nearly died.

All this... it was all in his plan.
