Cigars, Cars and Creeps...Oh My!!

Sep 13, 2006 08:05

I know I don't post much in my LJ here, but I figured that this past veekend (9/07 - 9/10) had enough interest to it that I should do a vrite-up of our unusual and unique activities. Plus, I feel the need to vent a bit as vell.

On Thursday night (9/07), Countess, myself and Svengirlie had made a scheduled appearance at Cigars and Stripes (a cigar store/bar) in Berrrwyn, IL. Ve had a table set up outside in the parking lot of the place for an event they called IT CAME FROM LAKE BERWYN vith DVDs of our first 2 shows, 8 X 10's, 5 X 7's, bat-guano chip cookies and The Count's Life Source (fake blood filled tubes) that vere all available to purchase. Ve did rather vell for this premiere outing as sellers of our brand new ghoulish goodies. Our good friends Ron & Angie had also come out to support us. Joliet's horror host Count Midnight even conducted an exclusive interview vith Countess & I near the end of the night. A second Vorld Premiere of "The Psycho-Tronic Man" vas playing under the big tent in the middle of the lot vhile the film makers of "Hot Rod Zombies from Hell" vere auditioning even more zombie extras. Horrorbles had a table and a hot rod skull car called "Skull-u-la" had flames shooting from it's exhaust pipes, plus so much more! The only part of the evening that vas a bit overkill vas the fact that the promoter of the show had showcased Dave "The Rock" Nelson VAAAY Too Much! Letting Rock basically take over the night vas not fair to the rest of us that vere trying to be seen and noticed by the crowd for our fair share of the action.

Friday night (9/08), Greg and Linda decided to take in the 7th annual Chicagoland Entertainment Collectors Expo in Prospect Heights to meet some of their favorite TV and film stars. The highlight of the event vas having 3 of the original 60's cast of "The Addams Family" (Wednesday, Pugsley and Cousin Itt) in attendance. Greg and Linda first acquired the autograph and pic of Ken Weatherwax vho played Pugsley. Ken vas an awesome person. Then Greg & Linda met Felix Silla vho vas Cousin Itt! Felix vithout a doubt vas our favorite. Greg bought Felix's autograph, took a few pics vith him, then Felix let out the cool News Flash about "The Addams Family" finally coming out on DVD this year in October! Yay! Read more of our adventures at this expo vhen ve returned on Sunday.

On Saturday (9/09), there vas a "Route 66" car show right on the street in front of the Cigars and Stripes that ve vere at on Thursday night. The classic and customized cars vere all parked along a 6 block stretch of Ogden Ave. in Berrrwyn! It vas a HUGE event that Linda & Greg vent along vith Angie to see a friend of theirs vho had their car in the show. However, a person that ve knew vas being very rude and obnoxious. So, I just didn't vant to be around that kind of behavior. At least the company I came vith to the show had made the rest of the day fun and ve did take numerous shots of the other cool cars.

Sunday (9/10), Linda & Greg vent back to the CECE to acquire a few more autographs and film a couple bits for a futute "Count Gregula's Crypt" show. Vell, as soon as they arrived at the admission/registration table one of the expo staff members had recognized Greg from "Count Gregula's Crypt" and then in turn introduced Linda & Greg to the show's promoter. The promoter had said they could possibly have Count & Countess as guests for his next show! Vow! How cool is that? People like me...they really like me! Linda & Greg then vent to meet vith Carel Struycken (Lurch from "The Addams Family" movies) and acquired his autograph and took pics vith him. They then vent to get another autograph from Felix Silla and had him tape an interview for us. Last but not least, Greg & Linda met vith Lisa Loring (Wednesday) to acquire her autograph and take pics. Apart from Addams Family cast members, another cool guest at the expo vas Bob May vho had been the actor inside the original B9 Robot from TV's "Lost in Space" episodes. Bob vas very pleasant so Greg & Linda bought his autograph and had pics taken vith him too. All in all, Sunday vas a fun filled day of great memories shared vith some of the cool people that Greg & Linda remember growing up vith on their televisions and still enjoy vatching to this day! To top off the day, Greg & Linda had yummy Chinese food at Golden Chef in Wheeling.
