9. Wildwood Dancing, Juliet Marillier, 4/2/07, 403, Young Adult/Fantasy
I've been in love with Marillier's writing since I read her Sevenwaters Trilogy a couple of years ago, and couldn't pass this book up when I came across it. This is a tale of five sisters who discover a portal to the Other Kingdom which opens on the night of the full moon. Their secret is threatened to be revealed to those who fear the the Other Kingdom and would have it destroyed. Jena, the most sensible of the sisters, makes a plea to Draguta, the witch of the wood, to help protect her sisters and preserve the Other Kingdom. But, as Jena will soon learn, every gift has its price, and she risks losing that which she loves most in the world.
Obviously, this book can't compare to Marillier's "Sevenwaters trilogy" or "Children of the Light Isles" series; nonetheless, reading this book was like eating comfort food.
