Short (incomplete) thing about Jadesprite
Homestuck Itself

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Jade Harley. Every night when Jade would fall asleep, she would dream on a magical moon called Prospit. Prospit was fantastical and golden -- it was one of two moons that circled Skaia, a battlefield planet in the middle of what we later find out is called the Incipisphere. Prospit was literally gold-plated; everything about it was beautiful. As it circled Skaia, it would often come into contact with the clouds that covered that planet, providing the denizens and dreamers of Prospit with views of the future through these clouds.

Jade's dreamself lived a fairytale princess life. She made all sorts of wonderful friends on Prospit. The inhabitants treated her like a princess, making friends with her and serving her. Life was wonderful; there were no bad things to worry about, and nothing could possibly go wrong. She was the only dreamer actually awake on Prospit, however -- John, the other Prospit dreamer, was still asleep. And she encouraged him to wake up: she wrote lovely messages on his walls, telling him that he could do it! He was a smart and wonderful person, she just knew it, and he should learn that himself so that he could wake up on Prospit and play with her, too.

She waited and waited, until one day she couldn't wait any longer. The Big Bad of Homestuck, Jack Noir, ascended to practical godhood. And his first place to destroy was none other than the shining moon of Prospit. He slashed the moon into pieces, destroying it from the inside and sending the entire thing crashing towards Skaia. John's dreamself, still asleep, fell to what would have been his certain death. But Jade rescued him, throwing him out of the way and sacrificing her own dreamself to have him live on.

Now, Jade Harley knows this. She knows that John lived -- she's seen him. Jadesprite, on the other hand, does not. Her memories are only the ones of being on Prospit, and the last thing she remembered was sleeping John almost dying, and assumes that he is dead. After she died, it is presumed that she went to live in the dream bubbles, where she met new friends -- who, we're not really sure. Her body was recovered by Grandpa, who took her back in time and stuffed her, placing her in the room with the fourth wall.

Years later, that body was thrown into the first-tier prototyped Becsprite by Jade Harley (now awake and not dreaming at all). This brought Jade back to life as Jadesprite, tearing her away from all of her friends and forcing her to remember all the painful memories that lead up to her death. In addition, she was now controlled by the power of the Green Sun, an entity so powerful that it filled all of Jadesprite's thoughts; she couldn't turn the thought of it off, or get it out of her mind. She sobbed about it, claiming that Jade didn't really understand -- and got shaken and bitchslapped for her troubles, which pretty much made it worse. Thanks Jade. You're the best. Jadesprite then ran off to Skaia, where she met another sprite -- Davesprite, who had just gotten through with a vicious battle with Jack Noir. They commiserated about their lives and he encouraged her to try and be useful. How? By sending this huge sword to one Dave Strider, who was in need of the most powerful sword he could possibly attain. Jadesprite used her Space powers and powers as a first guardian and sprite to teleport the sword from Skaia to Dave on Derse, marking her as actually useful after all.

Happy endings. Ah, my favorite.

I will be taking her from immediately after she sends the sword, before the meteor comes crashing down.

Personality:
Since Jade Harley and Jadesprite are essentially two halves of the same person, they share a few similar traits. Jadesprite, like Jade, cares deeply about her friends. She always wants to protect them, and watches over them when she can. She is optimistic and loving, writing supportive messages on John's wall to encourage him to think better of himself and to wake up on Prospit, taking care of him night after night on the moon. Like Jade, she would gladly help any of her friends that was in danger -- after all, it was a combination of Jade and Jadesprite (or her former dreamself) that saved John from peril. Jadesprite even died for her friend John, the reason that she was dead for so long in the first place -- she was somewhere in the furthest ring, contemplating all the sad events that had happened. Her heart goes out to anyone with a sympathetic cause, and she attempts to be nice to most everyone, as long as they are nice to her, such as Davesprite. But when people are mean, like Jade was, she completely gives up on herself and cries, thinking herself useless because of their words.

However, they are not exactly the same. While Jade has seen her share of hardships, Jadesprite has never had a hard life at all. She cannot bear to think of unhappy situations; she blocks all memories of John's "death" and Prospit's destruction out of her mind for what can be surmised as years and refuses to talk about it when Jade asks. Instead, she chooses to focus on simpler things -- the happiness of her new friends and a small streak of determination that will help her overcome. Jadesprite might not be able to charge after Jack Noir, but she's slowly learning to be useful in other ways, things that might be more important than trying to be the big damn hero. She's uncertain but willing to learn, at least from the most recent updates. At least, she's not a complete waste as some might think. Jadesprite may think that she is, but her faithfulness to her friends and gentle spirit make her a sensitive character, rather than useless.

When forced to confront a situation, Jadesprite also differs from Jade. She is not a warrior, or a person skilled in marksmanship. She is a frightened and timid individual, having spent her life surrounded by friendly people with no idea of how to come to terms with suddenly feeling useless. The slightest insult or misconstrued sentence can send her into tears, and she is easily upset. Needless to say, she doesn't handle criticism well -- when Jade insults her, she just cries more. Jadesprite tends to feel utterly useless when compared to the Alpha Jade -- after all, who needs a Jadesprite when you have a strong, capable Jade Harley wandering around? And things that are too large for her to handle scare her; she is terribly frightened of the Green Sun, as well as her current predicament of turning into a sprite. Jadesprite just doesn't know how to handle overwhelming situations. She wants to die because she feels like she has no purpose until the very end of Act 5 -- she hates her life as a sprite and hates the fact that she was created as a creature meant to destroy Jack Noir. But like Jade, she hasn't given up yet. Even though she cries a lot, she's realizing slowly that she can be of use, if given the right opportunity. There is more to her than meets the eye, and Jadesprite is slowly willing to open herself up to helping more and more. It is a slow progression, learning self-worth, but even though she talked about dying, she's not dead yet.

Jadesprite's determination becomes one of her central features later in the comic. She is determined to be useful -- but her hesitation and her fear that maybe she's not good enough to do that stands in her way. It's not that she is a total crybaby -- she cries for what she thinks are valid reasons -- but mostly that she doesn't know how to command her self-confidence, if she had any of that in the first place. She looks up to Jade and Davesprite like role models; they are so powerful and can do anything they want, just like she wants to do. She is determined to follow in their footsteps, even if at the same time she's worried she'll mess everything up. But eventually she won't let that fear stop her - she becomes a help to not only Davesprite, but also Dave and Rose as they head for the Green Sun. Not that she knows this; Jadesprite has to learn to trust herself, that she actually did a good job. This is hard for her, but it helps her to learn that determination pays off in the end.

Abilities:
- Power of the Green Sun rendering her almost omnipotent (powerful energy blasts, ability to harness the sun to shrink/grow objects)
- Ability to teleport objects across long distances
- Sprite Powers, presumably, a knowledge of the inner workings of the game of SBURB and the ability to translate the riddles provided for the player in order to get to the next step.
- She can fly! But mostly because she has no legs. It's a traditional sprite thing.
- Presumably she also still has the other traditional sprite ability of being able to protect the player using a blast of energy -- in this case, it's slightly irradiated energy.
- Acts as if she's part-dog sometimes, particularly when upset -- woofs and barks.

Sample Entry:
I chased some birds today... [ Sniffle. Sniffle sniffle. ] They were scared of me and they ran away, and I don't know why...

I was just trying to be nice and they didn't like me! boo hoo hoo... What did I do wrong? Can someone help me? I don't want them to be scared of me...um. But. Don't tell Jade, because she'll get mad at me. She doesn't like it when I do dog things. Woof. I'm trying to be more human, but it's hard...

I'm just...going to go now. Before she yells at me...
