so this post is mostly a post for
xfalseapologyx &
kungkungkung, who asked me for tutorials/psds for icons, and
stitchesofgold who asked me for a header, so sorry it took forever but real life has been hectic as of late and photoshop wasn't really all that cooperative when i was on it lol
>>
**psds for both tutorials can be found at the very end**
STEP ONE:
find a picture, for this paritcular icon i did a manip from scans of
15a20 cropped it and considering i was gonna do a texture prominate icon, made sure their faces were dead center (or close enough to that lol)
your icon should look like this
*STEP TWO:
add
this texture (made by
seemyhands ) set it to hard light and Fill 30%
your icon should look like this
as you can see you can see the faces pretty clearly yes? so then you use the eraser (set it to a soft brush in the preset size you could go from 27 to 35, but if you want to make sure not to ruin it and go with a smaller brush go for it!)
your icon should look like this
when that's done all you have to do now is duplicate the texture set it to Screen 78% Fill
your icon should look like this
afterwards merge your base and both textures together, the merged product will now be your base.
STEP THREE:
once you have your base good and ready add
this texture and set it to Screen
your icon should look like this
STEP FOUR:
add
this texture set the Fill to 76% and then put it to Screen
your icon should look like this
STEP FIVE:
Duplicate your base and put it on top of both textures you have just added, kepping the setting to Normal just set the Fill to 19%
your icon should look like this
STEP SIX:
add a new layer fill it with
#673B1A than set the layer to Color Burn, Opacity 69%, Fill 55%
your icon should look like this
STEP SEVEN:
Go To Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Brightness/Contrast
Brightness: -34
Contrast: 22
once that's done set Fill to 26%
your icon should look like this
STEP EIGHT:
Add a new layer fill it with
#EAE81D set it to Difference, Opacity 39%, Fill 11%
your icon should look like this
STEP NINE:
Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation
MASTERS:
Hue: -9
Saturation: -22
Lightness: 6
your icon should look like this
STEP TEN:
add a new layer fill it with
#5F3D1C set it to Overlay, Fill to 25%
your icon should look like this
STEP ELEVEN:
add
this gradient set it to Soft Light, Fill %27
you icon should look like this
STEP TWELVE:
Duplicate the Brightness/Contrast layer you did in Step Seven, only this time Fill is set to 100% and then put it at the very top of all your current layers
your icon should look like this
STEP THIRTEEN:
Add
this texture (made by
velvetb0x ) ) set it to Screen
your icon should look like this
STEP FOURTEEN:
Duplicate again your Brightness/Contrast layer from Steps Seven/Twelve put it on top of all your current other layers and set it to Overlay, Fill %37
your icon should look like this
STEP FIFTEEN:
Duplicate your Base, put it on top of all your other layers and set it to Screen
your icon should look like this
STEP SIXTEEN:
add
this texture and set it to Screen, Fill %71
your icon should look like this
STEP SEVENTEEN:
hurray last step for this one lol! merge all layers or flatten image which ever you prefer and then go
Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen**
your icon should look like this
*usually i what i would recomend is that you color your picture first before you put your texture, but it looked so pretty when i made it like that so i did it lol.
** again if you find your picture to be to Sharp just duplicate it after you'be merged/flatten it then sharpen and play with the opacity t'ill it's to your liking :)!.
>>
STEP ONE
once again the easy part lol choose your picture, crop it, size it, place it and don't do anything else to it (no sharpening etc)
for this icon i went back with a cap of Prison of Askaban because the original icon kungkungkung asked for was from it!
