[ Riku was awake for the most part. In another part of the house, but awake. He could hear Zack before he walked over to the older teen, stopping short of entering the same room. ]

...He's gone?

[Zack looks over his shoulder as Riku speaks, the look on his face a cross between a kicked puppy and an abandoned child, before he looks back at the bed.]

Yeah....musta been during the night...He was here when I went to bed but now he's just gone.

[The bed is slightly rumpled, as if someone had slept in it, but it's cold and it's obviously been empty for a while.]

[ It's okay, Riku looks just about the same. He respected and looked up to the General. ]

So, they just vanish. Just like that? [ He moves into the room, glancing around. It looked like Sephiroth had just picked up and left while everyone had been asleep. ] Maybe he's out...swimming with Nessie or getting the stuff ready for the desert trip. [ Riku hasn't looked down at his dreamberry, nor does he really want to right now. ]

[As much as he wants to believe what Riku is saying, Zack only shakes his head. Even if that was true...]

He always picks up his phone, Riku...even if he didn't, it would go to voicemail. Call didn't even go through.

[Zack sighs shakily at that, obviously trying to keep from lashing out and breaking something, or knocking a hole in the wall]

[ Riku thought saying it out loud would make it reality. :| ]

I know...I just... [ Doesn't want to believe he's gone. Riku didn't bother lashing out. He lashes inwardly. /: He looks down at the ground rather than up at Zack. ] I don't want to believe he's gone.

I know, man...I always thought he'd be here forever. Never thought I'd still be here and he wouldn't.

[It sounds like something said at a funeral. It might as well be, for all Zack knows.]

[ Riku doesn't actually know what to do. He'd usually go and talk to Sora or just wrestle out his aggression with him. But his friend isn't there either. Or well...isn't awake.

He barked out a short, somewhat cynical sounding laugh. ]

We're making it sound like he's dead. [ He shakes his head before sitting at the foot of Sephiroth's bed. ] But he's not, right? He just went back home. [ ...no poor Riku doesn't know the fate of his hero. D: ]

[He's not dead? No, but...he might as well be. The Sephiroth they knew and looked up to would be gone within days from now. As it is, Zack lowers his head and looks away from the other teen, swallowing hard.]

[It should be obvious to Riku that Zack is a terrible liar. The fact he can't look Riku in the eyes is not helping.]
