Oh, I don't know about that! ...Angry Chocobos are a bit faster, I'd say.
[Angry Chocobos are also terrifying, thank you.
Now, on the subject of pups!]
Would it be... unreasonable... to request the adoption of two animals? If you, the General, and Miss Tifa are all right with it, of course. Leon needs to find a home for them, and he has told me the cat and dog were previously your own. If there were room, and I provided the care exclusively, might not that be acceptable?
Angry Chocobos---yeah. Those are probably a lot faster.
[And terrifying enough to hear about in passing that Zack just...doesn't want to know the specifics.
And a dog and cat that were once Zack's---oh, hells. Angeal. Pardon him a moment, there's something he needs to check, but...yep. that's what he was afraid of. Long sigh is long.]
No, it's...it's fine with me. Just get Seph and Tifa's okay first, alright? Pretty sure we've got room somewhere around here, but Soldier might have some trouble with it.
[He feels awfully, he really does. After seeing the General as a child, so frightened, and with what happened to Miss Tifa... now this. Thinking a moment, he finally piped up,] The best part of having a mentor is that they are never truly lost to us. They are in our every good decision.
Still, I am sorry to have brought you bad news. It would seem as if more bad news is unusually cruel now.
[In ever good decision and every moment that their teachings are used; it's how Zack got through it the first time, back home.]
Yeah, but....you know, he'd probably whack me upside the head for a few of my decisions, man. Lost count of the number of times he did that the first couple years training me.
[The thought of that is enough to get Zack chuckling, and though it still hurts for Angeal to be gone...he'll be okay.]
It's okay, man. Really. He's better off back home...no nightmares to worry about or anything.
Well, that's another important role of mentors. To snap you out of your lesser choices. Er-- figuratively, of course. [He wasn't sure how effective actual whacks might be.]
Still, these things do come as a shock. [He couldn't imagine he was really all right, this quickly. Merely putting up a brave front.] Might I be able to do something to take your mind off of it? Oh! I know.
We ought to pick out provisions for the desert trip.
Sometimes literally, though he always said it never worked with me. [Zack snickers a bit at that memory, not all perturbed that Larsa seems to have seen straight through his front, and he just nods. Might as well make use of them both being up, anyway!]
Well, the last time we went out there, we had to turn back cause of some cranky sand shark that rammed our camp, so maybe a few extra medkits would be a good idea. A lot of extra food, too.
Then you are incorrigible? [He prompts, with a smile.]
A sand shark, did you say? Oh, my... that sounds... alarming, really. Were you not close to a beach area? There are quite a few tricky sorts of creatures that dwell in wet sand, though I've never heard of a sand shark. Not even in the Sandsea of my home.
[Zack actually has to pause and remember what that means, but when he does, he smiles sheepishly; it's certainly...fitting.] Heh, I guess so.
Nah, it was just dry sand far as we could see. Thing was kinda like a shark swimming through the water, but instead of sea water it was sand. And it was huge, too. A few stories tall, at least.
Chocobos are a bit excitable, aren't they?
Reply
More than a bit. Especially when they know there's food waiting on the other side of the pass.

[He chuckles, shaking his head.]
Actually... speaking of animals...
Reply
[Well. The bird variety; Cloud never liked greens. Oh, and have a headtilt, Larsa; pup is curious now.]
What's up?

...What's the matter?

...My old mentor used to take care of those two. He's not here anymore, and I...wasn't expecting that. Don't worry about it.

A few stories tall, did you say? Oh, my... you must have needed powerful magiks to walk away unscathed.

More swords hitting it than magic, actually. It took forever to scare it off, but nobody was hurt. We came back to town right after, though.
[After all, why take chances with those things out there, right?]
