Calling all Audio nerds

I need a new audio interface, something with atleast 4 inputs and 6 outputs. Basically I'd like to stay under $500 if possible. Would like something that is portable with my laptop. But I've also thought of the idea of just continuing to use my desktop audio system and get motu 2408 or delta 1010. Then get a decent 2+ output interface for my laptop.

I have been looking at Motu 828 and M-audio 1814.
