Just was having a lot of feels and wanted to get this out for my own thought organization
Honestly I'm trying not to think too much about this ep because I'm seriously scared lol I'm almost positive we're going to be left with some kind of cliff hanger in regards to Cas.
First off I think all the stuff with Sam and Amelia will happen first since that's where they left off in 8.09 right? (kinda hope they get that out of the way and don't keep interspersing it into the whole episode like they have been lol sorry but haven't been all that enthralled with that story line) and then on to Kevin & the demon bomb discussion we saw in the clip and then they go off to help Samandriel. I wonder if they're planning on using the bombs to aid in rescuing Samandriel or just want them for future protection against Crowley? Both seem like good ideas lol
Cas seems to look normal for at least part of the ep according the spoilers, clips and pics we've gotten so I don't think he's seriously hurt or compromised right off the bat. However, there is one scene where Cas is apparently bleeding from the eye and Dean asks if he's OK. Hmm that might have something to do with trying to help Samandriel? Maybe Naomi finds out and pushes him for more info? Maybe she has been doing something to Cas throughout the ep and we'll get flashes of that like we have in the past episodes so far but it's not till the end when she finds something important out that she seriously confronts him? Maybe she finds out Samandriel let something slip? Maybe he said something to Cas or Crowley? I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like that to torture US and leave Cas' fate up in the air, as usual.
It seems like Naomi's upset about some situation being comprised. She says they 'have a situation' in the same clip. I think they said we figure out what the angels are up to in this ep so maybe she feels something Cas did or Samandriel said has upset that plan? I'm curious what they're up to. Since they're keeping tabs on Crowley and Kevin and Co. I'm assuming it's related to closing the doors to Hell. I saw speculation this might affect Heaven somehow too and that could give them concern. Or maybe for whatever reason they have something at stake in the gates of Hell being closed? And why did they risk so much to get Cas out of purgatory, will we ever find out? Dunno.
What she's doing to Cas also concerns me. Not just the way she's made him 'confess' like we've seen so far. Something has obviously pushed her because she's breaking out torture devices and Cas is clearly freaking the heck out at some point. He asks "what did you do to me?" Which makes me think she's done something beyond just making him talk in this ep. I mean, it looked like she had some kinda needle up to his eye and had him strapped to a chair. Is she slowly brainwashing him? Rebooting him like they did in The Rapture? Forcibly removing information from his head? Is he gonna come back differently on return? Will this effect his relationship with Sam and Dean? I'm really concerned about how what she might do to him could effect him in the long run. I just hope Sam and Dean understand this was out of his control and don't start up stupid "betrayal" drama and actually try to have his back once everything comes to light.
Also are Sam and Dean aware that something's up? If they really thought Cas was in mortal danger I can't imagine they'd go on as usual with only a 'hmm hope Cas is OK" kind of throw away comment now and then (like they did in Season 6 & 7. Still bitter.) Especially if he's going to be gone as long as he's supposed to (at least 5 episodes). So maybe they just think he's off doing 'angel business' and aren't that concerned because he seemed OK when he left? Or maybe they are concerned about him & it will come up. They seem to be about business in usual in the eps beyond 8.10 with what little we know, but those little spoilers and vague synopsis aren't going to reveal much of course.
We don't have many spoilers about his well being or his presence beyond 8.10 (duh, they're not gonna give that all away) But I'm hoping more info will come out after the ep airs because if we're just left to think he's stuck somewhere being possibly psychologically and physically tortured or is mentally compromised somehow for 5 or more eps and they don't give us anything else to go on; I'm gonna be upset. I mean, I would think that would be a fairly significant sub plot for the latter half of the season. I just hope he's around more than just 3 more eps (they said he'd be in at least 8 eps and after 8.10 that will be technically 5 eps he will have been in). But the little 40 second purgatory flashbacks shouldn't count imo. He's only been in two full eps so far. Even Benny and Amelia and GARTH have had semi-character centric eps. I think Benny was in more eps than Cas so far. O/T but kinda disappointed about Benny, tbh. The whole "I'm just misunderstood!" story arc is kinda cliche. I was hoping for more of a reveal about how he got his info in Purgatory and more of a darker twist on his characterization. He's a cool guy and I know a lot of people are happy with him being Dean's 'friend' but I hope something more comes of that because so far I find that story line to be a bit boring.
Anyway if Cas only comes back for the finale, I'm gonna be pretty ticked off. For one he hasn't had a centric ep yet. I really hope 8.08 wasn't counted as his centric ep because while I thought the ep was fairly funny and there were some good serious scenes too; I'd prefer something more pivotal and poignant like "The Man Who Would Be King" or "Reading is Fundamental" or "The Rapture", hopefully penned by Carver or Edlund or both. Also he still has so many issues. I mean he said he thought about KILLING himself, he's still not 100% OK and 2 or 3 more eps would not sufficiently resolve his story arc this season, imo.
This is all just random speculation. The clips and teasers we've gotten tend to talk about/show things out of order so I have no idea how the episode may play out. I tend to be wrong a lot but I just had a lot of thoughts about this and wanted to think about what we knew so far, which is not much lol *sigh* Another season, more worrying about Cas.
