Eastwind again. I guess this is the only day of the week I've got enough time around a computer to post. One post a week, that's not too bad, is it? Nah.
Apartment is becoming significantly more homey. The aloe baby seems to have survived the transplant and is currently enjoying the sun on the window ledge by my bed. I've got food in the fridge, pots and pans to cook with, plates and silverware to eat with, even a couple chairs to sit in. Things are looking pretty nice.
Last night might've been the first night I had a dream that took place in the apartment. It was a weird one, something to do with stapling carpet to the walls and putting on ugly swathes of paint. Weird. But series of unusual (and eerily repetitive) dreams I've been having for the last week or so may have ended.
I realized there are a few prevalent motifs in my dreams.
-Long, dark staircases and passageways full of forgotten rooms.
-Thresholds with complete blackness inside that pull me inside.
-Fighting of some sort, often in self-defense, sometimes not.
-Eerie proficiency in the use of throwing weapons.
-Women with an inexplicable attraction towards me.
With the last one, you know I'm dreaming.
I think sleeping on that pad in my apartment is making me taller. My bed at home was too small for me; I had to sleep diagonally, and even then it felt cramped. The pad is much nicer. I can stretch out as far as I like without worrying about banging my head against anything or sticking my feet off the edge.
Hm. Can't think of much else to say. Eddie's story is making little progress. I'm going to put all the events in his life so far that I've thought up on little pieces of paper that I can swap around to make a timeline for him, which would be very helpful. I've got a lot of ideas, but most of them are muddled and out of place still. Organizing everything might help with the creative flow.
What I'd like to do is a mini-story about him that I could post on ViaCorp in place of a post. The reasons for this are sort of silly and egotistic, and I have no defense except to say that it would be good drawing practice.
But on that forum, Eddie, as a character, doesn't have a strong enough reputation for his gifts. In roleplay, (P)ower equals the (V)olume of work times the (Q)uality of writing times the number of (r)eaders who appreciate what you did, or
P = V x Q x R
Wow, I can't believe I'm nerdy enough to actually work this equation out.
Let's see. I've made 22 posts so far, and three of them were kind of short, so they'll only count as 1/2. And one post was an independant flashback sort of thing which I'm real happy with, so it'll count as 2. All the rest will count as 1.
So... V, = 21.5
How do you assess quality objectively? Grr. We'll use a simple scale.
Zero will be Eden-quality one-lining.
One will be mediocre semi-paragraph.
Two is good paragraph.
Three is above average (For the roleplaying world).
Four is excellent.
I'll be egotistic again and say mine ranks pretty consistently at 3. In fairness, just about everyone on ViaCorp would rank 3 or 4.
Q = 3
Last one's the hardest. I know Jason likes what I'm writing, I'm pretty sure Q does too. The guy who plays Kazas, and a couple other people I've showed Eddie's posts to like it. I'm also going to assume The Boy and The Girl like it. So that puts me to... Seven.
r = 7
R = 21.5 x 3 x 7
R = 451.5
Heelarious use of my time. Jeebus. Can't believe I just did that. Gargh.
So sleepy.
