Today we present our Special Drabble Edition, in which we review all of the nominated Drabbles across the fandoms. Although the Drabble category is not going forward for voting in either the Classic Who or Sarah Jane fandoms, there is one Classic Who Drabble which was nominated in multiple categories, so we'll review that at this time as well.
So, without further ado....The Drabbles!
All Drabbles are presented in alphabetical order by title.
Company by Kaethel/
kae_nineFandom: New Who
Details: G, first-person from Ten's POV, spoilers for Partners in Crime
Superfast: Surprisingly angsty, but in a terribly sweet way. Absolutely perfectly describes a specific moment in PiC.
Best Line: She couldn’t take it then. I’m not sure I can take it now.
Desires by
ceefax_the_saneFandom: Torchwood
Details: Owen, Ianto, Jack, PG-13.
Superfast: The three of them go shopping; well, Ianto goes shopping and gets exactly what Owen requests. Hilarity ensues. One of the best closing lines to a drabble ever.
Best Line: The best line is giving away the ending, so I'll give you the run-up instead: "Coke, muffin and, as requested, porn."
Don't Move by ninewood Link goes to Teaspoon
Fandom: Classic Who (also nominated in the Humor category)
Details: Second Doctor, Jamie. No knowledge of Classic truly needed for the humor value.
Superfast: The Doctor absolutely needs Jamie to keep still. Jamie's having trouble. As smutty as it sounds, it isn't.
Best Line: Again, best line is the last, which unfortunately gives away the joke. So we'll go with: “Just hang on a little longer.” “I’m nae sure that I can!”
Gasping by
tardismateFandom: New Who
Details: Ten/Rose, Adult like woah.
Superfast: Um, guh. Excellent imagery. Yeah, imagery, that's the word. Did I mention guh?
wiggiemomsi, oh lover of smut, how the hell have you not read this one? Also, guh. Blow jobs have never looked quite so....good.
Best Line: Seriously hard not to paste half the drabble in here. The rasp of a zip impinges on his consciousness...
Gratitude by
katestampsFandom: Torchwood
Details: G, spoilers for TW through S2 and DW through S3, Jack/Ianto.
Superfast: Oh, man oh man oh man. What a drabble to pair with Untitled (below)! Jack on forgiveness, but this is a different Jack after different experiences, and is something of a punch in the gut to boot. Read Untitled, and then read this, and then read Untitled again. Wow.
Best Line: He breathes them in with the earth, feels them crawl beneath his skin with the maggots, lives them and dies them for almost two thousand years.
Parting, Quietly by Cathica Link goes to Teaspoon
Fandom: New Who (also nominated in Threesomes)
Details: Nine & Rose. Adult like woah.
Superfast: Well, I didn't see that ending coming. You will, though, if you note the other category. I kind of want more of this - like, what happened before and what happened after. I don't want to spoil the ending - let's just say - it's Nine/Rose. And then some.
Best Line: Because it sets up what you don't expect so well: "Will you do this for me, Rose?" the Doctor asks, kissing her open mouth too softly.
Pre-emptive Strike by
wendymr/WMR Link goes to Teaspoon
Fandom: New Who
Details: Ten, set during the ending of JE. A bit angsty.
Superfast: The Doctor plans his own goodbyes. Plans being the operative word here - you get the sense that the Doctor is extremely deliberate from start to finish. Not so much a moment but an entire scene in a hundred words, which is quite hard to do.
Best Line: He knows it, feels their absence already even as laughter ripples around the console, hears the echo of eight goodbyes as yet unspoken.
Untitled (Fourth of Four) by
spogglyFandom: Torchwood
Details: There are four drabbles here; I'm reviewing the fourth.
Superfast: Jack, very dark, on the nature of forgiveness. Did I mention dark? Read this before and after you read Gratitude (above), and WOW, you're in for a massively amazing treat.
Best Line: No one asked his forgiveness, even when he was dying for them, and life was too long to worry about these things.
