LJ app for blind iPHone user ednun September 19 2010, 22:36:14 UTC
HI there. I have just downloaded and tried to use the LJ iPHone client. I am totally blind, so I use a system called Voiceover, available on
any iPHone to read the text for me on screen. If you wish to see this, please go to the settings options in the iPHone, then general,
accessibility and turn on Voiceover. please note, you will need to double tap the ok button twice for it to stay turned on whilst you browse
programs. Any single tap is now a double tap in order for Voiceover to function. Whilst some of the LJ app does read, for example the log in,
the tabs to do different things etc, I am not able to read my friends posts or my incoming messages. I get a box telling me how many
comments there are for example, but voiceover does not read the text of posts or entries. Are you able to update this app to work more
successfully with voiceover? I would very much like to start making use of LJ again and the iPHone would be a fun platform to do this on,
not to mention many other blind users who would also like this. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Many
thanks. Ed.

Sure, will do it. Until we make an update you can use brand-new LiveJournal mobile website to read friends page thru Voiceover - m.livejournal.com.

Hi. That is fantastic news, thanks so much. I realise you're very busy developing other aspects of the app etc,but do you have a very rough date when Voiceover support might be implemented so I can tell the blind community?
Thanks.

HI there. Since posting this comment I've seen 2 updates to the Livejournal app, but sadly Voiceover still doesn't read any better than it first did when the app was released. Is the voiceover accessibility for the app being worked on?
Thanks.
