Challenge 003: James Jacques Joseph Tissot

Jan 30, 2008 21:30

This is our first art-centered theme, something I would like to do fairly often since there are tons of wonderful paintings that are costume related. ;-) So our third challenge is The Art of James Jacques Joseph Tissot. You can read about him at the Art Renewal Center, and the credit for the all images also goes to the ARC.

The reason I have chosen him, (aside from the fact that I am a very big fan!) is because his magnificent talent in depicting the costumes of Victorian women wearing the strange yet beautiful garment called the bustle. These dresses are so breathtakingly elaborate, and so realistcially painted, that I could spend hours looking at them. Those of you who are visually astute might also recognize the last image as my header. ;-)

Now for the technical stuff. You may submit up to seven (7) icons for this challenge, using only the images provided. All techniques except animation are allowed. Submit your entries in a comment to this entry and please be sure to provide the image as well as a URL for your icon.

You have one week to submit your entries, until the evening of Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 at 8:00 PM PST.
