Number 39? 39? Number 40?

Last Thursday I got the guts to finally go down to Columbus State and register to take a class. I've been thinking for awhile about going into nursing (pediatric or NICU), and Aaron and I had agreed that maybe I should take a few science classes to see if: 1. I really enjoy this stuff and 2. I can do well in class.

Getting registered to take a class was harder than I thought. Columbus State, while I like them and the programs they offer, makes it a challenge to get started. Without my determination to do it, I probably would have given up after the second line I had to wait in. First I had to meet with an admissions counselor (I applied online, so got to skip that part). After waiting 20 minutes, the admissions advisor told me to go upstairs to drop off my Miami U. transcript. I go upstairs to the registrar and wait in line 15 min. to simply hand the only woman on duty my sealed transcript.

Then I'm told to go to a different building to meet with an academic advisor (a different breed of advisor). I sign in there and wait about 5 min. and then meet with a very nice woman. However, I'm unable to prove to her that Miami U's Zoology classes aren't about animals, but about biology and chemistry (damn you and your creative naming, Miami!!). She also doesn't buy that Natural Science for elementary ed. teachers is in any way relevant. So it looks like I'm starting with CHEM 100 since they don't think I have any knowledge of science. At least I'm bound to ace my first class - I just wish I didn't have to spend $380 to do it!

After meeting with the advisor, I got to go to - you guessed it - another line! I wait for 20 min. in line at the registrar's office (wasn't I just here?) to turn in a paper authorizing me to register for CHEM 100. Really, who needs authorization to sign up for basic chemistry?

But it's all done now. Well, except for going back another day to wait in another line to pay my bill, then wait in another line for my student ID, then another line for a parking pass, and then buy my books.

I never thought I'd miss the MUCARES lady so much.
