long weekend!

wee! long weekends are fun! It's hard to believe I'm not going to work tomorrow :) On Friday night I took Rachel out for a belated b-day outing. Before supper, we made the necessary pit stop at Mac's... I bought some "pigment", which is basically eye shadow in loose powder form. I love the colour: brown with blue gliter. We then had supper at Elephant & Castle, and OMG was it ever good. They make the best preztels ever! I had a very good teryaki stir fry. I couldn't get over how good the good was. Afterwards, we saw The Devil Wears Prada. It was really good. Delivered what it promised ;) But I got an interesting perspective on it. For me, the movie made me realize that you always have a choice. The heroine of the film had a job that she hated and would bitch that she wasn't treated with the gratitude that she believed should be owed to her. But once she had her reality check (i.e. this is your job, you choose it, if you don't like it, quit, but don't complain if you stick around) she did her job even better (though I'm not gonna say she was happier). However, this made me realize that me and most people love to play the victim and cry about how much our lives suck. For myself, I will try to adhere to the "excuse me, I've got a job to do attitude." Not just at work, but in my everyday life. People don't seem to understand that we have "libre arbitre". Apathy is death. So is self-pity. Anyway, when we got out of the theatre, the night air gave us a buzz. We could hear rehearsals on Parliament hill and we just started to walk toward it, half-entranced by the music. Turns out it was a Stars rehearsal. We stuck around for 3 songs then got really tired of them. Just not our type of music methinks. Oh and the cheap shots at Harper were kinda pathetic. But the background images were soooo cool. We walked around for a while on Elgin street. I had to satisfy a craving for a caramel latte (my new fav drink) and then Rachel showed me a really cool gelato place. Turns out that pinnaple gelato is where its at. :) It was an awesome evening, the weather was so nice.

On Saturday was my brother's belated b-day party. Lots of fun and yummy bbq. Luckily, my mom had some spare veggie burgers. I'm glad she supports my veggetarianism. Lots of my friends now are like "Oh, I hardly eat any meat now. It kinda grosses me out." I think it's kinda funny to eat something that grosses you out, but then, I've done it for years. Things change when you start cooking for yourself. Interestingly, I realize that since I've been on my own, my tastes in food have expanded immensly.

After my bro's party Raph and I left to go to Mylene's place for a get together around the campfire. Unfortunately it was raining a bit, here and there. Since we were in Limoges, aka mosquito country, I got bit soooo bad. >_< My hips are swollen from bites. Around midnight it started to rain pretty hard (and then a thunderstorm) so we continued the party in the garage). I had lots of fun and got drunk...This hasn't happened in AGES. Crazyness. I will put up pictures in My Yahoo album (I have the link on this layout) I woke up at noon today! I was so exhausted and a little nauseous. It feels like I did nothing today! I'm trying to save money now on groceries. So I'm cooking and being a lot more careful with groceries. I will do them every week now. This way, there will be less spoilage and more freshness. I finally made a recipie that I have been wanting to do forever now. It's curry chickpea recipie. Oh it's soo good. I made a batch that will be enough for 2 suppers. This is part of the saving money plan. I made a food "schedule" and sticking to it. Ah fun times :)
