Maybe Baby is playing at The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA this Friday night. And after that, they're not doing many more gigs until the latter half of next year, because Jennifer is pregnant! She made the obvious pun in her announcement, of course:
As many of you may know already the band I started a couple of years ago with my partner and fellow songwriter Ry Cavanaugh, called Maybe Baby is actually Definitely Baby now! Yes, I'm due in March.
In addition to Jennifer Kimball and Ry Cavanaugh, Maybe Baby also includes Duke Levine, who was in Jennifer's first band The Story and also played with Knots & Crosses, Carol Noonan, and many other regional musicians. And on drums they have Billy Beard, who books the Lizard Lounge. Convenient! :)

Jabe The Lizard Lounge is the basement underneath The Cambridge Common restaurant on Mass Ave, about halfway between Harvard Square and Porter Square. All their shows are 21+ and they're often sticklers on IDs. It's a cozy venue but arrive early for good seats, otherwise you either have to stand in the way of people moving back and forth, or sit off to the side where the sound is weird.
Jennifer Kimball is also performing with
The Wayfaring Strangers at the Somerville Theatre on Saturday night. See below for more.

Hi all, it's windy and wooly and Fall-like. My favorite season of the year. Today the sky held a flock of those slate-grey sheep clouds, low in the pasture, looming behind swaths of birchy trees along the Mass Pike. I drove back from NYC with my friend Duke Levine, who also happens to be producing my new record, with a van full of musical instruments - a Leslie for Duke, a toy piano for Jenn. We brought some songs for the record down to our friend Paul Bryan in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for him to play Chamberlin on. And WOW! Does it sound beautiful! I will do my best to keep you all appraised of all the recording news. But suffice it to say for now that I am loving the direction of our new project - it's a little more organic than past projects. And full of new songs!
As many of you may know already the band I started a couple of years ago with my partner and fellow songwriter Ry Cavanaugh, called Maybe Baby is actually Definitely Baby now! Yes, I'm due in March. And can't believe how amazing this pregnancy deal is. But can we talk maternity clothes? It's so hard to find cool pants that fit around that belly. But pants or no, I do love being so immersed in the creative process right now.
Maybe Baby is playing tomorrow, Friday 11/14 at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge. One of our last gigs until next summer or fall. Hope to see you at 9pm tomorrow night. And in case you need another reason to come down, it should be entertaining in itself to watch the pregnant lady try to play the guitar over that belly..... Seriously, do come down to this great little club early because our friend Sarah Siskind is opening. Besides being a lovely person, Ms. Siskind can sure write a good song. Duke is going to play with her as well. Then Maybe Baby plays - that's me, Ry, Duke and Billy Beard. And then our friend Jabe is closing the show. And you don't want to miss him either. Jabe is one of my favorite songwriters - you will go home with Jabe Beyer's songs stuck in your head - and I mean that in the best way!
So join us for a non-smoking show - ALL Cambridge and Somerville is non-smoking now! Makes for some odd sidewalk congregations outside the clubs - but I for one am sure enjoying the smoke-free gigs right now.
Saturday night I get to sing with Sarah again as I am a guest singer with the Wayfaring Strangers at their Somerville Theater cd release show. Sarah is a member of the band now - and with Ruth Ungar and Aoife O'Donovan singing as well you won't want to miss this one. Bluegrass meets jazz and then some. I'm going to sing some old tunes and a new song I've just written as well. Tickets are almost sold out...
There are no more Jenn gigs until this record comes out. But there are a couple more Maybe Baby appearances - stay tuned to the website -
Hope you are all well,
Jennifer
