no i'm so far rather fickle and only go for intense fandom crushes for 2 to 4 years. At which point it becomes "caring" for the crush but not actually "being in love"
However broadly speaking I'd say that's how long Ive managed in real life relationships before Ive got bored also.
I do wonder, now I'm past 25, am I actually going to fall properly in lifelong fandom love. I mean my crush on Tom Hiddleston at 26, is going to be different from my crush on David McCallum at 20 or David Tennant at 17, or my crush on Paul Bettany at 13. Because I'm a different person now. I will note that my current fandom crush is now approaching an age I could actually date. Even the smallest age-difference my previous crushes have had were me being 19 and David Tennant being 35. Which still isn't massively socially acceptable.
However now perhaps my Tom Hiddleston choice reflects a "fandom crush" desire to move towards a lifelong fandom partner. In that I've chosen one who's 6 years older and lives within a 6 mile radius of me. He will age with me and is "fandomly reliable" for many decades in ways the others cant be. I'll let you know if I change my mind ;) I suspect that once I have children in my 30s I might possibly imprint more on an even more reliable fandom choice like Benedict Cumberbatch. [because as much as I love him, I don't think Tom Hiddleston is reliable marriage material - Benedict Cumberbatch is]
Oh, I don't know Meany my dear... Hiddles I believe would be a more interesting, more engaging, ultimately more satisfying life partner than the Cumberbatch.
in the short term - i would agree. But i doubt he'll stay for more than 7 years. He's a man on a mission. I'd bet money on the fact that he'll leave the children. He'd leave to go and do something very noble - but it would still be abandoning them. Because he's Leslie Howard. He's the sort who's going to actively go out and get himself killed in a war. Benedict Cumberbatch would go, but he wouldn't want to. Hiddles is too selfish - and he's so selfish to the point he doesnt realize he is. Cumberbatch is loyal and reliable, and would come back. It would be smarter to marry him. Cumberbatch I think would give up everything else for the family, Hiddleston might say he would - but he wouldnt.
