Cross your fingers!

Sorry for going AWOL there...I've been feeling pretty down lately about being unemployed and hanging around the house, and I tend to disappear when that sort of thing happens. But, good news! I have an interview tomorrow for a place I really want to work. I'd dropped off a résumé there like a month ago and forgot about it until I got the call this afternoon. So wish me luck, because I'm going to need it. :) OMG, what am I going to wear? I have very few interview-worthy clothes. I really need to do something about that.

But job or no job, I've been trying to keep busy with fandom projects. I always need to have something on the go. Right now, that involves a couple Supernatural fanmixes, an Ugly Betty moodtheme (and possibly a Blair/Chuck one, if I ever get to it) and at least three ideas for the current challenge at picspammy. Which I really need to get on because there's only about a week left. Plus a tutorial that I promised eggblue. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten. :) And then there's TV talk.

Gossip Girl
I love Blair's dreams! She has such a wild imagination. Actually, one of things I love about this show is its ability to be very modern and yet totally classic at the same time. Where else are you going to find people dressing like they're straight out of a Dickens novel (teenagers, no less)? Come on!

The whole thing with Serena and her possible husband was lifted right out of The OC, though. I half expected the guy to write a book about his sex life with Serena and then show up and start calling her Peaches. Well, there were no pet names, but he did appear before the episode was even over, which was quicker than I thought. I guess I don't mind the story being recycled, but I didn't care much for that plot to begin with. Except it looks like maybe the guy is still with the other woman and seeing Serena on the side. Oooh.

I also have a bit of a problem with Dan turning up his nose to catering. Dan, sweetie, I know you've never held down a job before (that thing with the drunk writer doesn't count), but being a high class waiter is apparently pretty lucrative. Think of the kind of tips you can get from these people! It's not like it's McDonald's. If that is the attitude you're going to go into every job with, expect real life to bitch-slap you good. I did like how he was more sarcastic here than self-righteous, though. More of that, please.

I never expected the apology to Jenny from Chuck. While I appreciate it, it seemed to come out of nowhere. Why are they only bringing this up now? And who is this person Chuck has become? The Chuck of last year would've never apologized for any of his sleazy behaviour. He's Chuck
Bass. But he's evolving, the same as Blair is, and I think they'll find their way back to each other when they're ready.

Oh by the way, I'm sure some of you have heard Leighton's doing music now. Has anyone heard the song "Birthday"? I rather like it, it's quite catchy. It sounds sort of like Scissor Sisters or something, that sort of indie dance/pop feel - a lot like the music on Gossip Girl, actually, so I guess that's appropriate. Do check it out!

Chuck

I think that was, without a doubt, one of the best paced and most well-written episodes of TV that I have ever seen. Funny, suspenseful, touching...how do they do it? Gossip Girl might have captured the zeitgeist, but Chuck has my heart. I'm going to be crushed if this show isn't renewed. If I have time tomorrow, I'm going to put together a post about how to save Chuck. It's time to rally, people! I'm willing to do whatever is necessary to help.
And if you're curious, Mo Ryan from the Chicago Tribune (a big supporter of Chuck) has posted several clips of the finale. I had to peek. It looks great, as usual. :)

So, you know those pictures Fringe shows as it goes to commercial-the apples, the butterfly and so on? I didn't think much of it, but there is apparently a complicated code behind them, and someone has solved it. You can read more about that here.

Also, mark your calendars: the final episodes of Pushing Daisies will air Saturdays at 10pm on ABC from May 30-June 13, according to TV.com. The timeslot couldn't be worse, but at least we'll get to see them.

Finally, new Supernatural in a couple minutes! I'm nervous for this one. I hope it's better than it sounds...
