Is it November yet?

One more week.

That’s what I have to keep reminding myself. Just one more week until the tyrant in my house leaves, and I can do normal things like, oh, use the bathroom, without him bellowing at me. (I wish I were kidding.)
Though I have a feeling that something will go wrong and his new building will decide they don’t want him after all and we’ll be stuck with him. I swear I’m calling the cops and having him evicted if that happens, because he’s not staying here. Three months is quite enough, thanks very much. My own housing search isn’t going so well either. Apparently no one rents during the fall or something.
And then there’s work, which is totally messed up as well. Since our cook is recovering from surgery, she’s been out since Thanksgiving and isn’t expected back until next month, which has left her husband, my other boss, running the show. Which wouldn’t be so bad except that we’re more short-staffed than usual and he hasn’t done the logical thing and hired more people. And of course, having to be the only one there, he got sick as well, which meant he made me stay and help out. Just me. Not anyone else. Which I didn’t mind while he was sick, but he makes out the schedule and then just changes it whenever it suits him, at the shortest notice. He doesn’t consider that I might have plans. He was mad when I told him I wouldn’t be able to come in on Saturday because I’m going out of town. Okay, so I did only give him two days notice, and I feel bad about that, but it’s not my problem to see that his ass is covered on the busiest day. I work harder than anyone while I’m there, and considering I haven’t taken one day off yet in the year that I’ve worked there, I think I’m entitled to two consecutive days off, since it is the law and all. That’s just scratching the surface of my issues with that place, but I won’t go into that now.
The reason I’m going out of town? The Ten Inch Hero screening in Vancouver. But I’m nervous. I’ve never gone to a fan gathering or anything like that, and not by myself. It would certainly be more reassuring (and fun) if I knew someone else going, but since I don’t, I’m just going to go, and hope for the best. This may be my only chance to see this movie and I don’t want to pass it up. Jensen trumps work any day.

What with all the drama, I haven’t had much chance to do more than skim my flist in the last week or two, but I did find a few deleted scenes from the new s3 Veronica Mars DVDs on Youtube. You’ve probably already seen them linked, but in case you haven’t, here are the deleted scenes and bloopers. Speaking of the DVDs, I have a question: I wanted to save some money by getting them at Amazon.com, which is $10 cheaper than Amazon.ca. But it looks like the free shipping is only applicable if you live in the US, so if I have to pay for shipping, that would pretty much negate any savings, wouldn’t it? If anyone has shopped there, do you have any tips (or a better place to look)?
I’m debating whether or not to get the DVDs anyway. I mean, season three was pretty disappointing, so the only reason I’d really be getting them is to complete my collection, not because I’m going to watch them that much. Those of you who have seen them - how are the special features? Is it worth getting for those? Or should I probably just rent the set?

I’m not undecided about Heroes though. I thought Kristen’s first episode was pretty good and I’m interested to see where they go with her story. I thought there would be more haters saying that she’s ruining the show, but so far I haven’t seen any of that, so that's good. Elle is very Veronica and yet not, since Veronica wouldn’t kill anyone for sport, or (amusingly) wonder what the big deal is when does. She’s like this badass human taser too, which is kind of funny. Plus, she’s elevated Peter’s storyline to a point where it’s not boring anymore, so there’s that. The big question is, who’s her daddy? I read one theory that maybe she and her father are like the evil version of Claire and Mr. Bennet, which sounds probable. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that maybe she’s Claire’s long lost sister or something. I mean, if she’s connected to Peter, then she’s connected to Claire by extension.

It seems that Matt’s dad traps people in their worst nightmares. He picks their greatest fears and makes those fantasies look real. And since he can read minds, he knows what those are and how to exploit them. If they knew what Molly’s fear is, could they go in and save her?

Few other things:

- Hiro’s story is boring. And so is seeing Ando read about it. I hope this picks up soon.
- So Jessica really is a multiple personality? That’s what I initially thought, but maybe that’s just something The Company told her, like brainwashing.
- Monica’s power is the coolest of the new people. I’m still not sure about those twins. The girl has black goo come out of her eyes. What kind of dumb power is that? Ooh, look at me, I'm Tar-girl! I can kill you on sight!

Finally, is it just me, or is Reaper getting really dull? This week’s episode involved an ugly sweater and green goo. Yawn.

personal, vm
