I'm trying a new thing where I make time to post about my shows within a day or two of when they actually air, instead of a week later. Yeah, we'll see how long that lasts. Anyway, VM last night was good. Still fluffy, but good.
Weevil's back, yay! And he called her V, aww. It's funny to see him wearing a shirt and tie (but why does he look so much, uh, stockier? Was he sick?). Too bad it didn't work out with Keith. It was cute to see how proud he was of his detective skills. So he had a temper that got him fired - maybe he could do desk work instead of the heavy lifting? On the other hand, now that he has (plausibly enough) landed a job at Hearst, I guess Veronica will be going to him when she needs locks picked or something. But what I don't get is, if Weevil fixed the car for free, then where'd the $2,000 go?
I was pleased to see so much Logan and Veronica in this ep. I can totally see Veronica being the jealous girlfriend and spying on him. But that's sort of looking for a problem where there isn't one, and I'm glad Veronica realized that. So Veronica is learning to be a bit more trusting, and Logan a bit more forgiving, so it's all good.
Oh, and I also don't agree that Logan and Veronica are boring now that they're together. Jeez, you got what you wanted. It can't be all epic speeches all the time. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
Can we have a moment of silence for the car? I loved that car, man. The Xterra was so Logan. Why did they have to replace it? And a black Land Rover? Who is he, a rapper? Just...no.
Other thoughts:
-Didn't really get the mystery of the stolen playbook. Who is this kid, and why should I care? And him and his friend looked so much alike that I couldn't tell who was who.
-The flashbacks this year look sort of...cheap. What happened to the pretty blues and greens?
-We keep hearing that Logan's a surfer, but we've never actually seen him surf. It'd be nice to see him surfing some time.
-Piz is growing on me. Trust him to name his band something dorky like Black Licorice -"it's dark and moody, but it's candy."
-The Dean is supposed to be filling Clemmon's role, I guess, but he's not as good.
-The feminists were a little over the top.
-The music is back! Finally. The last song was really good.
-The theme of whether a "leopard can change its spots" is interesting. It's probably not the last time we'll see this explored either.
I've been thinking that the reason this season seems different is not just the lighter tone. It's that Veronica isn't working at Mars Investigations anymore, and I kind of miss that. Good times. Well, I guess we'll have to see where things go.
