Since I don't have my season 2 Veronica Mars DVDs yet, I've been re-watching the first season. Now that I have a DVD player hooked up to the big TV downstairs, I'm astounded at how bright and clear everything is. It looks so much better than it does on my little computer screen. It's really the only way to watch it. This is such a beautifully filmed show. Anyway, I watched Mars vs. Mars, and I forgot how much I like this episode. They packed so much into it-besides the story of the week with the teacher, there's Veronica helping Logan, Veronica stealing medical records and subsequently discovering Duncan's illness, visiting Abel Koontz and dealing with Leo. It's also one of the episodes that explores how wrong Veronica can be sometimes, despite good intentions, and how she can go too far (a lot of people thought there was no need for her to steal those files. Myself, I didn't mind). Actually, it's a theme with both her and Logan, that just because you really want something to be true, doesn't mean that it is. Maybe even a season-long theme as well. But I'm diverging into meta here. So, a picspam of my favourite shots, with some analysis.

I like these three because things are awkward-Logan is hesitant to be there, but he knows Veronica is the only one who can help him. The strong blue, yellow and green colours are a good balance.
"Hi-YA!" Karate Kid Mars to the rescue!
I just love the colour of this one, with the window behind her. It matches the flowers on her sweater too.
This shot is great for establishing how anxious and alienated Logan feels. It looks like a noir shot too, with the angle and the blinds behind them.
"Down, boy!"
Logan taunts the woman about trailer parks and spam...
...and the hand gestures make an appearance.
I like how, again, he sort of hovers in the doorway, unsure of whether he should come in and doesn't want to disturb her.
"I come in peace."
"We're not exchanging friendship bracelets."
I like how Logan is sort of silhouetted against the glass wall. This is where his hopes are dashed that the woman would have some information, and instead turns out to just be just your average obsessed fan.
Which may be why he smiles sort of maniacally...
...and leaves the room to sulk in the corner.
I just love this shot-the colours of it, and the window behind Veronica. The rotary phone is a nice noir touch too. But not very useful today. I can't remember if I've seen it being used or not.
"So you got a trophy for a rim job?"
This is a cool shot. It's very symmetrical (is that the right term?)-the way the posters line up, and the lights on the the ceiling.
I LOVE this shot. The red flowers match the wall, and the red and green compliment each other.
Same here. The neutrality of the chairs make everything else stand out. Do they plan what she's wearing so it matches? Because that's almost too perfect.
Creepy. Abel Koontz looks like a ghost, reflected in the glass like that.
*Sigh* So pretty.
