You Just Can't Keep Everything!
I found this old shirt in my box of "keepers." This was worn out years ago, but I have held on to it. I wore it as a sleep shirt for years, and put it up for safe keeping. This shirt holds special memories of a great time in my life, but it is time for me to throw this away.
Why is it difficult to get rid of something that is clearly useless? Not having this shirt will in no way diminish my memories, and it can't make me remember things I have already forgot. It serves no purpose. Yet there it was in a box of good shirts destined to be a quilt some day.
I have feelings like that. Dredged up bitterness or disappointment. I keep them in my heart right next to my courage and love. They also serve no useful purpose. It is time for me to throw those away too...
