'On the edge of sleep, I awoke to a sun so bright
Rested and fearless, cheered by your nearness
I knew which direction was right'
-RUSH
Well lets see, for a Summer just began, it's been rather eventful. Some Highlights, perhaps:
Had a torturous flight from Boston to Las Vegas to Anchorage. Ohh godddd, I'd much rather prefer to just walk next time. Each flight was six hours which meant I had to try and entertain myself for most of that. On my second flight I was accidentally placed in an aisle seat where then after I couldn't get out of. A-W-F-U-L, if I may say so myself. I was put right in the middle of an Indian family. Two parents. Two kids. Eight and Five. Use your imagination...
Attempting to be more culturally diverse my dad and I went out for dinner at a little Korean place in town. It was delicious.
I finally bought a new nose ring. About time too. If some of you may remember, after having lost my first nose ring during sleep I was forced to walk around with a safety pin stuck through my nose hole. Soon there after I decided to buy a nose ring at Mexicali. Apparently it was a cheap ring and I figured this out when the jem un expectantly fell out. I've had to deal with that very ring for the past few months and it was just when we were in Anchorage that my dad offered to get me a high quality ring. So, although this may not be interesting in the least to my readers, I found it exciting. Quite.
Got home to Homer with my dad and my uncle Kent just in time to see off Jennifer and Indigo before they left for Anchorage. My little sister, Indigo, had a cold, poor little girl, and wasn't feeling too well. Which was unfortunate. They left on Saturday.
On Sunday, Kent, my dad, and I went down to the beach in town. And yes, we went swimming. All out swimming, in the ocean, in Alaska. Big deal, it was amazing. It was a beautiful sunny day out and the waves were just calm enough to handle.
On Monday I woke up at 1:30PM, got up, drank some smoothie, and chilled around the house in my super man sports bra. By two I was up and adam and reading a book. I had plans with Raven at 6 so when 4:30 came about I headed down to town with my dad where he then dropped me off at the beach. Apparently Elijah's brother, Sam, had given me his purple nail polish and I happen to have found it in my bag that very day which inspired me to bring it along to the beach with me. Sitting on the sand by some great big peices of drift wood I painted my nails a luscious purple and soaked up the sun. At 5:10 I walked up to the library and check my e-mail at super speed. By 5:50 I went up to the theater(which was quite conveniently right accross from the library) and met Raven there. We saw The Break Up and, inevitably, talked most of the time. Afterwards we walked down to the beach, skipped stones, talked some more, all the while waiting for my dad to pick us up. When by 8 he showed, the three of us had a short game of hacky sack then headed home. Raven came to my house for the night. We watched AquaMarine and Underworld Evolution, while eating pistachio and chunky monkey Ben & Jerry ice cream. By 1:30AM we finally had finished are movies and went to my room to wind down for the night. That didn't work out too well. We stayed up 'till 4:30 talking about life...which, of course, takes time.
On Monday morning, July Fourth, Independence Day, I woke up at 11:30. Automatically I freaked out, jumped from my bed, and ran up to my dads job site. During my few hours of sleep I had dreamt of my fathers death. At first I had not fret but after letting it soak in I realized the intensity of such an event. Like, my dad is dead. I will never see him again. No longer will I be able to connect and interact with him because he is totally and completely GONE. I recall the heavy sobs and heavy emotions which seemed to tear through me as I cried and cried and cried. It was when I woke up and realized that my dad was still alive that I felt the need to love and appreciate him. I gave him a hug and told him of my dream. He understood.
And so, I'm here, right now, in this moment, sitting at the computer while Raven sits in the hammock in our living room while my dad and Kent eat their lunch. I suppose I'll join them.
So, conclusively, you can see that few events have occurred but I am still managing to busy/enjoy myself.
It feels nice to be in Alaska.
