One Year Ago Today

One year Ago today, I was in the middle of walking 10 miles with Seth Saltiel from the off ramp of Exit 26 on I-91 to the Coventry concert site. We had left the day before, and spent all of yesterday in traffic, including the night, which in a car packed with camping gear and four people is not easily done. The rain was an added depression, and nothing was sweeter than this morning, during which we were woken up with sunshine, and the Bunny (the radio station set up especially for the festival) was playing "Here Comes the Sun".
Just in time to bring us all down, there's a radio announcement saying that no one else is going to be allowed off of the highway, because, don't forget, this was last August during which the entire East Coast was pounded with hurricane after hurricane which converted the beautiful green fields of the Northeast Kingdom into one giant mudfield, a situtation that was not helped by the fact that thousands of cars were running on the dirt roads trying to get to the last show that Phish would play. Needless to say, our world crashed down around us, but the few moments of pandemonium passed as my dad's handicapped sticker got us off of the highway and onto Route 5..which means that we had made it! Except we were still 10 miles away from the venue. Not willing to miss a single moment of the music, Seth and I make the decision to trek in (along with thousands of others who abandoned their cars on the highway, converting the median of I-91 into a parking lot at places), and meet up with my dad and his friend later. The walk was a test of our stamina, but Phish kept us going.

One year ago I bid farewell to Phish.

Now I bid farewell to Annie and Mark - two people who have meant a lot of me this past year. It's really hard to say anything about it right now, other than that it's going to be a tough month or so while everyone leaves, leaving us all here in Delmar!

Sincerely,

Cannot Wait To Get Out Of Here
