i'm having one of my "classic cristy" streaks of bad luck.
last night, on the way home from work, i hit a puppy.
the puppy appeared to be okay but i took him to an emergency animal hospital just to be safe.
the place was super shady and i think they are going to bill me for nothing.
i decided to keep the puppy, who i call buddy, at my house for the night.
well, i go to feed him and he is extremely aggressive around food and is being mean to myrtle.
i also notice that he maybe has mange or something resembling it so i decide that he should stay in the backyard because my obligation is to my dog, myrtle who is pretty much a child to me.
buddy makes it through the night but i feel horrible because i made him stay out in the rain.
a few weeks ago my neighbor asked me to store a doghouse (she's nuts), so this morning i lift the doghouse over the fence to get buddy out of the rain. he won't go in there.
this is where my signature bad luck comes in:
i locked myself out of the house at 8 in the morning, pajamas on, no shoes or bra. no phone, i live alone and don't really know my neighbors.
i get the bright idea to pry open the back door and i end up shattering the glass. a whole plate of glass shattered to pieces, it happened in slow motion like those old cartoons. my back steps and part of the yard are covered in glass. i have cuts in my hands and feet.
to top it, off when i got home from work , he was gone. he's back now but he won't eat and still won't go into the doghouse he just sits out there and cries.
i made signs to put up and i think i am taking him to this place called "sunny meadows safe haven for pets" until his owner calls.
i was just trying to do something good and then everything else goes wrong.
i can't even call my best friends for help.
i mean, who am i? i don't even get an invite to birthday festivities much less a phone call on mine.
this is the year i give up on people.
p.s. i just need to piss and moan, i miss being young when writing in you "eljay" was and alright thing to do.
HAPPY MAY!
