This past Saturday, I finally got a Saturday night off of work, so I finally got a chance to go out with the wonderful
cyberjulez. It was the first time I've gone out with anyone, other than people from work, since the "incident". It was a very long time coming, and I'm so very glad I did it. And it was the first time I got to spend more than 20 minutes with Miss Julie. We went to Circle A to see her friends' band play their first show, and it absolutely rocked! A band I'd definitely see again. It was a small bar, and was filled way above capacity even before we got there. Just after we arrived, a few people were asked to leave for a while because the police were patrolling outside...not that it seemed to help much, because the bar was still packed wall to wall. After the coast was clear, people packed themselves into the bar again, and the band played a pretty awesome set. I was really glad we got there on time, because people had to be turned away at the door, after the band started playing.
After the show, Julie and I desired to get our drink on somewhere where we could actually have a conversation, and sit down, so she took me over to Foundation. Now, I've been living in Waukesha for about 4 or 5 years now, so it's been pretty rare that I actually go to Milwaukee anymore. And when I used to hang out in Milwaukee...in Riverwest and on the Eastside...I used to be all about the club scene, so bars like Circle A and Foundation, never would have even crossed my mind. I can't believe I've never been to Foundation. This place is absolutely amazing! Totally my kind of place. The first thing you notice when you walk in, are the Koi painted on the walls...then you step up to the bar, which is lined with light up blowfish hanging from the ceiling. Everything from the red pool table in the back of the bar, to the fascinating architecture of the ceiling (tee-hee...Julie, you'll understand my enjoyment of the ceiling) made me feel like I had been coming to this bar my whole life. It was just one of those places you walk into and immediately feel comfortable. Not to mention all of the guys...oh yes...the guys! Who knew there was a bar in Milwaukee, where people my own age actually went...where the guys were actually over 21, and most of them looked like different variations of Brad Pitt. But not the guy in the kilt who looked like a bulldog...or the weirdos who shared our table. *shiver* Definitely a place I could go to regularly...especially since I have off on Tuesdays...Tiki Tuesdays...YAY!
So, a few Malibu and Oj's and a Purple Pussycat, and a couple of Mai Tai's later, we ended up back at Circle A, where there was a party with free beer upstairs. Unfortunately, after waiting about 20 minutes for someone to come let us in, all that was left was one Berghoff, one Rolling Rock, and a few cans of PBR. Being that the PBR's were in cans, and that I hate Berghoff, the Rolling Rock won by default. We chatted and mingled for a bit, and then we ended the night at Oakland Gyros, where I learned the true meaning of total insanity. I don't know if I've ever seen a restaurant so busy after bar close. The female police officer who cut in line in front of me said it was a pretty crazy night, though. Oh yeah, Julie...remember the name of that restaurant I was trying to remember, across from Mantra? El Chico Zuma...it just came to me.
Anyway...that was my wild night...about as crazy as it gets for me these days anyway. I got home at about 4am, and yes, I was still up for work at 7am. And I even remembered to pick up "Rehab Greg" for work...though I think I might have still had a little buzz going on when I picked him up.
So how was everyone else's weekend?
