"Comfort at the Close" by Cóz
Characters: Severus Snape & his patronus.
Summary: The nights are longest before the end, so a doe will give what comfort she can. Moon light and absence, a fabrication of childhood memory. The last he'll have to cling to. . .
"Darkling I listen; and, for many a time
I have been half in love with easeful Death,
Call’d him soft names in many a mused rhyme,
To take into the air my quiet breath. . ."
~ John Keats, excerpt "Ode to a Nightingale"
Notes: Since I draw about twice a year or less, I always feel like I have to relearn all the basics when I come back to it. There's is nothing more terrifying than a blank piece of paper. I'm not sure how a disciplined artist begins an outline, but I just randomly stick an eye and a nose someplace and spiral on outward.
