Mrs. Cosmic Bob is fixin' to get a rat. I like rats as much as the next person. They're generally cute. But we need to find a nice place to put it first.

And I am going to insist that this rat be named Amy. Sure, not the most original thing in the universe, but I think it's funny. Maybe I'll even take a picture of it and send it to Elizabeth Anne

We have 5 guinea pigs and 2 Tiny Terror Weenie dogs. We've never had any trouble ...But of course the Guineas only run free when the dogs are locked outside. Good luck with Amy! *grin*

Well, Little Dog might actually kill it, since that's nominally her job. Or she might run in fear from it. She's a chicken-shit.

Medium Dog would probably just ignore it in the house.

Our greyhound used to ignore the bunny we had.

We love the Guinea cages that we have that are made by Marchioro. The company's website sucks but here's some of their cages from http://petchauffeur.net. Good stuff. Sturdy, easy to clean, nice looking.

We've got a nice aquarium (not filled with water, for the comedians out there) that we can put it in. We need to get a wheel thingie for it and bedding.

Unfortunately the recommended food contains peanuts and Cosmic Baby is, literally, deathly allergic to peanuts. So we would have to find something else for Amy to eat.

From what I've read, rats will eat pretty much anything (not that they SHOULD) but it shouldn't be too hard to find something without peanuts in it. Good luck with that!
