In preparation to watch one of my all-time favorite episodes, Prophecy Girl, I decided to watch these two. And maybe I'll watch Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind.
The Pack really shows why Buffy caught my fancy. I mean, what other shows would have the principal, a sympathetic character, eaten by students? And the scene was so very disturbing, too! Everyone does such a good job here. Poor Willow and mean Hyena-Xander. Though the zookeeper villian did seem to be defeated rather easily.
I was sad to see Flutie go. But then they brought in Snyder, who is a great character! (Who also gets eaten - hmmm). Flutie was so different from Snyder. Sunnydale HS was a very different place during the early first season than it was later. When I think of Armin Schimmerman, I think of Snyder, not Quark.
I have always loved Nightmares. The scene where Dream-Hank rips Buffy apart by telling her she is useless was just so hard to watch. SMG does cry well. And I love the blue and white top that she wears during this episode.
And Buffy's fear is something! Buried alive (Bargaining much?) and turned into a vampire. But a hot and sexy one! ("I'm sick. I need help.", "Don't I know it.") But the Buffy-vamp was great. "I'm having a really bad day." It would have been kind of neat if Angel had seen her. But, I was glad that they kept Angel to a minumum during most of the first season. When he came on as a regular, they had to find stuff for him to do, at least until Suprise/Innocence.
