Some days ago, a friend invited me to go along to an Arts Event for homeless people at a Church shelter downtown. Having nothing better to do that evening I agreed to go along. An interesting experience, that, not because I learned anything new but because I got to see firsthand what I did already know (and that's a huge difference). It was actually pretty amazing, the plays were especially funny (there was a hilarious one about a person slowly becoming a baglady), the mood was cheerful despite the shabby surroundings and sombre lighting and there were poetry, songs, artworks, etc by both the homeless people and other supporters.

Near the end of the event though, there's one event I've been attempting to dilute from my mind. This one person - he was rather obese, and by rather I mean he was seriously overweight, a sweet guy with a potbelly that neither pants or shirt could hide and would have difficulty entering a normalsized door - went onstage and started singing Coldplay songs. Badly. He was so enthusiastic and poured so much heart into it but ohmygod I have never heard a song so buthered. So now, whenever I hear Coldplay's Speed of Sound, I can't help but burst into sniggers and cringes at that man's failed attempts at those high notes imprint themselves into my mind. *shudder* He has my admiration in getting up in front of a crowd to sing and I suppose I can feel better about my own singing abilities now - but I have usually ended up skipping that song from my playlist after that.

Does anyone else find it hilarious to see those farmers in their "Farmers Feed Cities" protest drive their huge tractors around the government buildings at about the speed of an inch every 5 seconds (one particular tractor I saw didn't make it from one side of a stoplight to the other within one green light) and cheerfully blocking all the rush-hour downtown traffic?
