It truly spoke volumes about Cas’ life that, when he answered his phone and heard nothing but swearing, he still wasn’t sure who was calling. He could think of five people off the bat who’d called barking curses at him-and that was when they were sober

That last bit where Sam's talking about his dad, and the last paragraph. That got me all teary.
You know, I didn't expect this to be so heartwrenching when this "It truly spoke volumes about Cas’ life that, when he answered his phone and heard nothing but swearing, he still wasn’t sure who was calling" is your opening line.
Although I was struggling to work out what point in the timeline this was set until the conversation with Balthazar. (BTW: You spell his name with two Zs, are you doing that on purpose?)
But I am glad that he and Cas made up! ^__^
Was also quite proud of Sammy in this one (which, WTF, he's a fictional character, not your child) because of how calm he was, and how well he looked after Dean and Cas.
Also "kicked, locked-out-in-a-thunderstorm puppy" is the best description ever.

I don't MEAN to make you cry, promise!!!!
Also, Balthazar's $#%$ name was an auto-correct problem...one of these days I have to suck it up and apply for a BETA. I know that I'm able to produce on an irregular schedule though, and I hate being beholden to someone else's.
And I'm glad you like Sammy! I'm going to be flashing back, but in the main timeline, Sammy's def growing back to his old self, and will continue to. I know I jump around in time in this 'verse, but that's why I wanted to write a 'verse: I always write everything out of order, so I like writing a story where I can jump about! One day, if I stop being lazy, I'll make a real timeline...that's on my list of things to do in my imaginary world of free time, heehee.
Love ya, my dearest wife! I was going to say Happy Thanksgiving and then remembered making that gaff in France. I think every nation on Earth should have a Thanksgiving, where they get two days off to eat for no real historical reason. God Bless America. <3 <3 <3

I like everything being out of order too. This is the first time I've not known pretty much immediately when it was set.
And because I have absolutely no life or responsibilities, and because I want all your free time focused on writing more of this 'verse, and because I am the best wife ever, I have compiled the stories into the best chronological order I could manage. With explanations.
This is going to get lengthy.
The Mechanisms of An Immature Mind (When Sam is a baby)
And Our Fates We Did Establish (Sam just sounds younger to me here than in Faith In A Faith That Falls)
Faith In A Faith That Falls (Sam is seven, Dean is eleven.)
When Sammy Met Cas (A little while after Dean started going out with Cas; before Jess died)
The Thief In The Night (Before Sam is living on the streets but after he's starting using heavily)
The Festival Of Weeks (Sam has just signed himself into rehab)
Simon Says (Sometime during the first ( ... )

And, even if I am a hurt!Sam girl....Dean is super-fun. I love his attitude. And I love when Sam is a dutiful little brother: it just makes me love him all the more.
And no worries: I'm having exploring Cas' 'bitchy' side. He's fun as a human.
Thank you for reading and taking the time to write such a thoughtful, in-depth review!

This 'verse always squeezes my heart until it bursts in a fit of heartwarming. Cas and his insecurities! Sam reassuring Cas! Balthazar making Cas see reason! Loving this as much as all the others, which is to say a lot. :D
