College is like playing house when everyone else has gone to climb on the monkey bars. At least it is for me. I've met some cool kids and all, but people vanish during the day and I am not up for playing hide and go seek. So instead I've been having the Thom Yorke college experience minus the drunken bits, which comes down to going to class, eating when I remember to, going out to shops when I need to, doing a minimum of schoolwork, and learning and writing songs. Part of the problem is that my classes are small, and the classes that I had to place into are both very small and mostly upperclassmen. I think if the school were coed it might be better as I seem to have an easier time making small talk with guys, because of my interests, sense of humor, etc. There are plenty of guys around, ex. the Loyola fall sports teams are always running through our campus, and I have a class at Loyola, but the way the class is scheduled I just barely make it to class on time and have to leave immediately. So no small talk.

The school itself is great really. The only thing I don't like is having so much time free for playing depressing Elliot Smith songs on my mandolin. I'm starting some clubs soon, but I don't know that much will change.

All in all, I guess the upside is that if I keep having to amuse myself, I'll at least be a better musician at the end of the year.
