Random drabble. Long time no post!
This drabble started out as something exploring InuYasha's humanity (<3 <3), but kind of diverted elsewhere as it went on. Ah well.
Title: Labels

Summary: His mother's son, Hanyou... Home. Labels can be both a good and bad thing, but everyone has one for those close to them.
When InuYasha was a child, his mother had treated him with the utmost of affection and love.
He was her boy, her little boy. Not human, not hanyou, not youkai. Just her precious son.
As such, when death descended upon her. InuYasha, homeless and alone, found himself left with one identity.
He was his mother's son.
But the world chose to thrust a different label upon him. Dirty, soiled… Hanyou.
And that became the new designation he took upon himself.
Kagome never mentioned what he was. She was all acceptance and brilliant sunlit invitations.
However, even his beloved mother had a name for him, albeit positive.
InuYasha wondered about Kagome's label for him. And despite his unshakable trust in her, a part of him was afraid to find out.
But he felt that fear melt away when Kagome glanced over to him and gave him that bright smile. The one that frequently caused a surge of butterflies to erupt in his stomach.
Someday he would be ready to ask her. But for now, he knew what Kagome was to him.
She was his home.
