I've noticed that the less i watch television, the more excited i am when i do watch it. Not really for the shows, but like a true VC student ("only good VC is a dead VC" -- Jeff)I'm totally enthralled by commercials. They're all so... witty and contained and perfectly exicuted! I wonder how they do it? I'm pretty witty at times on paper, but honestly not too funny outloud. I wonder if i'll ever get to make cool commercials too...
Is my love for commercials a bad thing though? does is show signs of me having a short attention span? Does a short attention span immediately equal lesser intellegence? Oi!!! Why do i always have questions?????
My mother read this article about how people that talked to their televisions and other inanimate objects were really just people who were too intellegnet for the society that they were surrounded by and they were craving more stimuli. If it weren't for the words 'inanimate' and 'stimuli' i'd be convinced she just made that up to make herself sound smarter and explain why she and i both have been known to give a stern talking-to to any random object that happened to not perform its preordained duty. But mom's not a woman who uses such words, so i'm guessing she did read it somewhere.
Does the fact that Jenni and i still thank the car every time it auto-locks us in make us the next Einstiens? Probably not... but maybe it has less to do with being whimsical and more with being able to shift our attention easily. Maybe if more people were able to see the world around them as wonderous as opposed to merely functional... maybe things would be better. Maybe we'd take less for granted if we were constantly reminded of how cool it is that it even exists. Perhaps its not my attention span that's short or my intellegence that's large... maybe I just never grew out of that toddler stage where everything is shocking and new, even the bad stuff.
I dunno, but i gotta go scold my washer for putting lint all over my clothes now, so i'll catch ya'll later... ;o)
