Dan and Lee play some chess.
Tuesdays are £4 pizza days at a place near Dan's work so we usually go for that and a few drinks afterwards. Typically we end up far drunker than we intended, but I suppose that's half the fun. I also went out the next night to meet up with some fellow Mongol Ralliers that live in the London area and after about nine pints of cider I dragged myself back home and into bed. We tried to drunkenly order pizza at around quarter to one online and, while that worked perfectly we unfortunately fell asleep; so I paid £16 for pizza that I never actually got to eat, bummer.
I woke up yesterday feeling generally crap, sick of drinking and like I needed to do something productive with myself. It's reading week so my time has been spent doing admin stuff (catching up on readings, doing tutorials, e-mailing lawyers and applying for various work schemes) interspersed with, obviously the occasional alcoholic beverage, so as punishment for my general lethargy I dragged myself to the gym and did a three mile run and thirty minutes on the step machine. Hey, it's a start I suppose right?
I'm off to Dan's parents tonight and my friend Jessica (a canadian girl currently working for the Turkish embassy in Ankara) is coming to visit tomorrow. She is staying the week to write the DFAIT (foreign affairs) exam and also just generally to catch up so it's going to be a busy one - when neither of us are studying that is.
Also, I got a new orchid:
My other mini one is struggling a bit to re-flower, but I've bought some orchid compost so when it comes in the post I'll re-pot it and hope that it fares a bit better.
My life right now, honestly, is a bit boring and mostly full of school-work and trying to secure a summer work placement here in England for this coming summer break (meaning, like I said above e-mails and applications basically).
Believe me, if I had the time to do more interesting things I would ;) I hope you all had a fantastic halloween though! Did anyone dress up? England celebrates it a bit but no-where near on the scale as back home, so my housemates and I just carved a pumpkin and watched a scary movie. I can't say I was phenomenal company because I was a little bummed out and home sick during the whole thing but, looking back on it it was nice.
xx
