I think I have discovered why people are fat.
My dad's secretary, who is on a mission to lose weight, just told me she was ordering a french onion soup and potato skins for lunch from a local restaurant (a pharmaceutical rep is buying lunch for the office today).
In what world is this:
and this:
Considered healthy? Those are by the way, photos of the actual product served at the restaurant we are ordering from. Her exact words were "Soup to be healthy, and potato skins because I'm hungry!"
Soup on it's own isn't TERRIBLE in all honesty, but if you're going for healthy, while that one is a beef broth it's also smothered in cheese and has red wine. On top of that, the potatoe skins are smothered in bacon, onion and cheese with sour cream to dip.
And she thought I was being decadent ordering a 1/4 pound of steak fajitas from the lunch menu.
If you're hungry EAT something. A composition of protein, vegetables and a healthy starch preferred. A "diet" isn't going to work if it's not satisfying you in the first place, and CERTAINLY not if it's generally just junk. Like above.
What is wrong with people? HOW have we deluded ourselves into thinking this stuff is good for us?
I don't always make the best dietary choices, but at least I KNOW it's bad for me.
