I worked super late on Friday so I didn't have to go all the way home and then back to the west side for co-worker's birthday drinks at St. Nick's... I don't think I've been there since before Lucky Lady got married and she came up to visit. It' wasn't as bad as it could've been, but yeah total Hollywood Bro Fest... I tried to hang in there... it's just not my thing. I am not a super pro networker and will probably fail at the movie business because of it LOL... so I stayed for a drink and a half and got the fuck out of there.
I went home. I went to bed.
Saturday, I woke up fairly early and started my day. Went to Rudy's to get a hair cut. The guy who cut my hair was a super aggressive gay man from Long Island who kept on talking like he was on stage at a drag show. Normally, that would be awesome... but he was trying way to hard and pulling my hair in the process. It was annoying. Then, he only half dried my hair and I had to ask him to finish drying it because I came in for a hair cut and a BLOW DRY. Then he had the nerve to tell me that the blow dry was on him... that place is hit or miss... this time it was a miss... although the haircut is ok... not bad, not great... just OK.
Tara came over and we went to lunch at the Alcove. It was so nice to see her.
Lisa's birthday was Saturday night and I almost didn't go. I wasn't feeling good and I would be going on my own and it was in Eagle Rock. MAN so glad that I did. Seriously one of the BEST parties I've been to in a long long time. It was a jungle theme party, so there were people dressed up as animals and pygmies and then some. Filip was spinning all kinds of Exotica and rad mid century music and we were all having a dance party. The Danes were all there and so was Ryan Gosling - randomly. The Vagina Girl was also there and drunkenly apologized to me over the incident at Juliepalooza. What can you do? All in all... it felt like a party 3 years ago... good people, dance party fun, boozy goodness - It wasn't about dance music, it wansn't in a club, it wasn't about hitting the next party, it wasn't about going to another planet... it was awesome.
I got a ride home and left my car there. Dave was supposed to give me a ride to my car at 1, but he didn't answer. By 3 I figured I'd better figure something else out. Whooo hooo an hour and a half later and on a bus journey through parts of LA I've never seen - I finally reached my car. It was a pain in the ass but interesting all at the same time. In any case way better than a DUI.
