The scent of the flowers filled the room. The music played, people watched as she made her way upon her brother's arm down the isle. Cory watched as the woman he loved moved away from him and into another's life. It was the hardest scene he was witnessing. It was best for her this way, however. Joel was a better man than he ever in his long life would be. And she could grow old with him. Adopt children and have a normal life. At least that was the lie he kept telling himself. She found another love. Better than him. He turned from the view, not able to watch. It hurt too much.
He pulled his coat tighter around him, heading out. Leaving behind the world he could have had. Hands shoved deep into his pockets, he headed toward one of the door. He gave pause as he was tempted to look back. He was told once... you should never look back. But he was tempted.
