Spring!

Despite having much to do inside, I spent a good part of the day today outside. I wandered up past the wintergreen which is spreading nicely, to the garden where B was pruning hacking some brambles looking for a place for the new cherry tree (also need to find a place for the two pecans).  Then off with the cats to look at storm damage on an apple.  From there down to the south coastline property post, where there was a large driftwood log, which would be nice to get moved to a permanent home as part of the seawall.  Cleaned up some dead branches and falls on live trees.  Attempted to slow the rotting of a standing oak which has nice shape and presents to the water by peeling the bark.   Solitude point looked nice, but the oak which has been failing, lost the last living branch it had, Firewood for next year I think.   Thence back for lunch.

After noon I walked the rest of the banking continuing to look after trees.  Picnic point looks like the work on stabilizing the shore is working.  Lost an oak, but not down the bank, so that's good.  It will need to be chopped and added to the seawall.  The bench on the point had fallen over, but it is still in good shape and well on the way to a nice patina and lichen.  Most of the snow is gone in the woodlands, though still pretty thick on the fields.  The ash I put on the garden last week has dropped the level of the snow there by about a foot.

Last CSA pickup today.  Summer session doesn't start until the middle of June.
