Hey, frogslayr! corvetteclaire September 13 2004, 10:53:58 UTC
I'm such a slug, I completely forgot about posting a notice to my LJ. Hopefully, after I've had it a bit longer, it will stick in my head and I'll post here *first* instead of last. :) Without friends like you to spread the word, I'd be lost! Or my story would, anyway.

By the way, I wanted you to know that I took all of your comments on "Night Terrors" and applied them to this chapter with, I think, good results. I resisted the urge to let Harry gush mentally, I slapped myself every time I started cataloging events, and I pared it down quite ruthlessly from the first few drafts to heighten the tension. So your efforts were not wasted. They were - and are - very much appreciated!

Also, in the spirit of giving credit where credit is due... The best line in the whole chapter, Stan's "I soddin' well won't!" is courtesy of my fabulous and fabulously funny husband. His family is British, and he's very good with the various dialects, especially Cockney. So I was sitting at my computer, fuming because I couldn't get Stan's line right, and I asked him how a proper Cockney would refuse to get on a bus. He blinked at me for a minute, then popped off with that line, in a flawless accent, and I fell on the floor laughing. I had to rewrite Remus' lead-in lines, but it was worth it to hear Stan say that.

Thank you for your wonderful review, and for your writing advice! You are a gem!

*blushes*

*blushes furiously*

We're just the fangirls... *blushes again*
well, you can see that <"lj user="hated_and_loved"> and I had a field day on Friday when the chapter came out-
it was all "wheee! it's out!" "Where!" "There!" "O man!"- then we went on to plot behind your back-
since she's in charge of the Potter Slash Archive, and we thought A&S should be there...
so, that was an amazing romp, just as Chapter 11 came out.

I've said it before and said it again- your Harry is a gem. truly.
(I couldn't say much of what a fierce young hero he is- mostly because I was distracted by everyone else in the story- but such a lovely, good *kid*)
- loved the way he was mildly snarking about the Wizengamot to Draco as they walked out (in a -huh idiots- teenage boy way), but then sobered up when he realized Draco was in no state to respond.
*That* was such an intense heart-tugging scene.

sigh..

and Stan- hee- he was the kicks- perfect perfect....

I'll end up gushing again, so must must shut up.

~Hope your boys are recovering~

I've never visited the Potter Slash Archive. This is definitely something I need to check out...

And if you guys want to put my stuff there, you're more than welcome!

*sigh* I wish I could spend all day writing A&S. It's bouncing around in my head, distracting me, keeping me from concentrating on lesser things like Work and Husband. The Offspring demands attention, no matter what else is going on in my head, so he doesn't suffer quite as much as the more adult aspects of my life. Unfortunately, work is being a pain in... well, you know. And I promised, solemnly, on my honor, that I would switch over to work on my LOTR fic when I got this chapter done. I'm trying to keep that promise, but it's hard when all I can think about his Harry and Draco.

One of the reasons I have such trouble with writer's block lately is that I (very foolishly) got started on two different fics in two different fandoms, and now I'm committed to finishing both. It is incredibly hard to shift gears between Tolkien and Rowling. I can't wait to get done with this LOTR fic so I can concentrate on the good stuff!

*tries so so so hard to be unselfish*

*tries again*

*laughs at self's futile attempt*

*rips out measly conscience* and *laughs* at it....

---> But of course A&S is more important! and more fun!!
maybe when the muse strikes, the writer *should* spend all day writing A&S...
(blinks innocently)

- aw heck.....
raving *lying* H/D fans aside, we'll just be chewing our fingernails down to the elbows
waiting for you to get back from LOTR.

- hee - whenever I think about writing clashing with Real Life, I remember that scene in
The Hours (film version)- where Virginia Woolf (well, Nicole with the schnoz)
goes nuts over the meat in the kitchen...
and goes off to talk about dead birds with her niece.
- (wherever THIS mental bleep is going... must stop before saying something stupid)
something along the lines of writing and writers being their own world,
and everyone living along with it (and the writer's guilt on *imagined* RL neglect) *might* think wistfully on "normality" once in a while, but have some sort of richer connection with RL, rather than the imagined normality that they think they might want...
?
?
hurray for boho artistic types?
?

(Okie- time to stop- must shut mouth/ sit on hand)
