All in all it's been a pretty decent weekend. Saturday started with work training, which seemed somewhat pointless, but largely benign in nature. I met my new co-RAs for Stouffer (one of which I already know) and they seem very cool. I think next year's staff will be really great. Afterward, I went swimming and caught up with a good friend I hadn't seen in a while. This was good for a number of reasons-- I got lots of good exercise, and I got to spend time with someone I really like. Later, Ryan and I ate at the dining hall. Afterward, he asked if we could browse at a local used book-shop we frequent. I got excited about searching the record stacks, and as usual I headed for the "B" section to see if they had any Beatles, and it was there that I hit the motherload.

I should mention that I've been wanting an LP of Abbey Road since, well, forever. And there it was. Along with Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine. Of course, my heart skipped a couple of beats as a scooped them up and clung to them for dear life. Just before I walked away, a dust jacket caught my eye. As I performed a routine scan of the front of the rack, I saw Imagine in nearly perfect condition (I should mention that all the ones we got were nearly perfect condition). I grabbed that one as well and headed to Ryan for budget approval.

As we went to pay, the cashier seemed impressed with my purchases. He then pulled a cart out from behind him that contained unpriced copies of (gasp!) The White Album, an anthology, Sgt. Pepper, and several others. He asked if we were interested, but after inspecting the quality of the individual records we decided to wait until we found some in better condition. That was a factor, and we were already pushing our spending limit. In any case, it was one of those times when I felt both extremely lucky to find the records, yet sad that someone would ever part with them.

Today was less eventful, but nonetheless good. We went to the dining hall, watched an unhealthy amount of The Simpsons (including one of my favorite episodes, "Stark Raving Dad") and had a delicious semi-homemade dinner and dessert. We also cleaned a little, and there's still homework to be done.

I don't anticipate the next few weeks going very well, and as I mentioned before, the last few have been torturous, but it's nice to have a break the last few days where things actually seem to be going my way. It's like I'm in the eye of a huge storm, and for a moment the sky is blue again, but there's still this feeling of impending doom in the air.
