Just an update:
I made the mockup of my sister's wedding corset with no front opening and it came out great. It's better than any of the ones I made for myself, really. I actually got her waist down about six inches, and she wasn't complaining about it being too tight at all - I envy her squishiness. Thanks for all your help. :D I'll post pics when I make the final version.
