Butterick 5662 First Mockup

I've been looking forward to trying out this new corset pattern from Butterick ever since it came out. I use my corsets for steampunk, so historical accuracy isn't my first concern. I'm planning a corset covered with patches so I though I'd try this corset with straps due to the large area that gives me to place patches ( Read more... )

Butterick is -so- terrible about their sizing. I've always had this issue with their work. Sometimes the "finished" measurements listed on the actual pattern piece are a bit closer, but not necessarily.

Hi and this looks great so far, even though a bit big, and thanks for posting pics of the back. Seeing the back is always helpful. Good luck with the progress on this whenever you do get a chance to finish it. I'd love to see any future progress you make.

How strange; I was just looking at this pattern a few hours ago (and wondering how long it had been around) when I noticed they were having a sale! I've gotta say, even a few sizes too large it looks much better on you than on the model. I was afraid the pattern would be too straight going by that picture and the pattern drawings.

I don't think butterick is the first (or only) pattern company that sees it fit to add "ease" into their "historical" inspired undergarments.

Good luck sizing it down (or selecting another size)-- I'll be extra interested to see what this looks like when it's done, since it's one I don't think I've ever seen completed before.

Wow, what you have looks WAY better than Butterick's example! I'm interested in seeing your final result.

Wow. I gave that pattern a pass because it looks so tubular on the model, but on you it looks awesome. That might be just what I need for the bodice of a costume I have been putting off for much too long now.
