Tol Fuin, Daisy Gamgee, and the Corsairs

OOC: I"ve had so much bad luck with this. I don't presume to play Daisy, but I thought I'd put the Tol Fuin description in here anyhow. Just what BlackSail was up to, why she wanted a small being to help her, and what was all this Feanor stuff anyhow.

(Okay, deep Tolkien bufs know what is going on. But with Daisy gone, I wanted this in my journal anyhow.)

IC:

The chamber was dark and in carved stone, the stone trees standing like sentries at the entrance marched their way down the corridor. Each bough twisted about with many a leaf or a fruit, or in some cases, it seemed, a snake or a bird. Very odd this was indeed, as stone animals looked out from between the boles of rock and limestone.

Traveling down the hallway is dangerous, for the animals shot out on long stone shafts to push a traveler into a hidden pit of spikes if they are not careful. A close shave for those who could not get out of the way in time.

For such a forgotten place, the traps were here indeed, and in plenty. Even skilled theives would have trouble with this first gauntlet

But the next chamber was so quiet, so still, square and simple and plain. With no exit? Not so! One panel on the wall covered a wall of ice that could be hacked through with dirk and cutlass. And beyond, brighter than the gray room was a tunnel of shining ice.

Softly, stepping along the slick route, over crevasse and past weak ice that could tumble into a pit, another heal of rock rises out of the ice ahead, and a dark opening shows the way deeper into Tol Fuin. The carving here is now carvings of monstrous faces, learing out of the walls with open mouths and wagging tongues. But they do not move, but the nostrils steam. Halfway walking along the corridor, hot water starts to pour out of them, and flood the corridor. Not only is it hot, but the water flows back towards the ice, threatening to cause glacier quake unless they are stopped quickly. A few cloaks stuffed into stone mouths does the trick.

The corridor turns, and a new sight appears. A raised bridge over a chasm, and no way accross. But the gate on the other side does not cover the entire entranceOnly a child...or a hobbit...could get through if helped across. Only someone small could get through and lower the bridge so everyone could cross safely.

Inside, on an enourmous stone bier, lies an elf encased in a flim of ice, wearing full armor and bearing Feanor's gift.

OOC: Anyone going through Ecyclopedia of Arda will spot this stone of Feanor is actually Palantir #7, the one lost in the north sea.

IC:

A few wacks with iron blades shatters the ice, and frees the elven armor, weapons and the Palantir from the icey grip, and make the escape before the entire complex shatters and breaks away from the cliff and sinks into the sea.
